Lorrha GAA officially launched the club’s major fundraiser last week with special guest Pat Carroll, Ballyea, the first up to pluck out the numbers, followed by players, mentors and supporters. North Tipp Ploughing.

The North Tipperary ploughing championships will take place on Sunday March 1st on the lands of Donie O’Meara, Ballyhaden, Borrisokane by kind permission. Entries to be with the secretary Denis Cahalan by Wednesday Feb. 26th. to (087) 779 3719.
The committee extend sympathy to Eamon Dermody on the death of his mother Josie which occurred last week. RIP.

GAA Fundraiser.

Lorrha GAA officially launched the club’s major fundraiser last week with special guest Pat Carroll, Ballyea, the first up to pluck out the numbers, followed by players, mentors and supporters.      The numbers drawn were, LINE 1: 9 – 34 – 7 – 13 – 8 – 6 – 4.   LINE 2: 13 – 8 – 39 – 9 – 5 – 7 – 10. LINE 3: 6 – 24 – 21 – 17 – 48 – 10 – 12. LINE 4: 29 – 1 – 44 – 50 – 33 – 3 – 11. LINE 5: 14 – 13 – 23 – 29 – 20 – 7 – 1. LINE 6: 48 – 19 – 45 – 44 – 29 – 9 – 12.
For twelve months beginning on 7th of April 2020 and ending on 2nd April 2021, the club will enter these  numbers in the Euro Lotto with two draws taking place each week. Tickets are only €20 and for a chance to be part of the syndicate and of course to support the club call Maureen on (087) 242 6965, Joe on (087) 9673124 or Adrian on (087) 232 5234 or any member of the club. Church News.

Sunday Masses Redwood, 1st & 3rd Saturday’s at 6.30pm, Lorrha, 2nd, 4th & 5th Saturdays at 6.30pm. Rathcabbin, Sunday’s at 11.30am. Week day Masses Monday 9.30am in Lorrha (no Mass on Bank Holidays)

Bereavement Support.

A Bereavement Support Information Evening  will take place in Milford Care Centre on Tue 25th February 2020 from 7pm – 8.30pm. The evening is designed to give general information on grief and bereavement to bereaved people, their family and friends. The Information Evening is Free.

Pilgrimage.

The 64th Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from Friday 26th June to Wednesday 1st July; €725 full board with €20 discount for online booking to: joewalshtours.ie

Trip to Medjugorje

The annual trip to Madjugorje takes place on June 17th. The duration of the flight will be 2.5 hours shorter as we fly into Mostar instead of Dubrovnik. Also, an easy payment plan is available. Contact Maria on (087) 2826088.

Late Josie Dermody.

The death occurred on Wednesday February 12th 2020 of Josie (Johanna) Dermody (nee Dillon), Ballyea, Rathcabbin. Josie was predeceased by her husband Willie. Sadly missed by her sons Liam and Eamon (Rathcabbin) ,Patrick (St Anne’s, Moneygall), her daughters Lucy (Dublin), Mary Egan (Kilcormac), Frances Murphy (Knock, Roscrea), sons-in-law Ned and Seamus, daughter-in-law Mary, grandchildren Sinead, Anna, Ciara, Connor, Eddie and Dainiel, her sister Mary Leamy, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbours, relatives and friends to whom sympathy is offered.
After funeral Mass in Our Lady Queen of Ireland Church Rathcabbin on Friday 14th of February, burial took place in  Bonoham Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Preliminary Announcement.

St. Kieran’s Care Home, Rathcabbin, are holding a coffee morning combined with a Daffodil day on Friday 27th March from 10.30am to 12 noon. All proceeds will go to the Irish Cancer Society. Everyone is invited to attend.

Celebration Dinner Dance.

Shannon Rovers camogie club will host a dinner dance on Saturday, February 22nd at 7pm, in the County Arms Hotel, Birr. Medals will be presented to the Junior (now Intermediate) and the U18 team. Aglish Sociable Ladies.

A Health Information evening organised by the Aglish Sociable Ladies, will be held on Wednesday 26th February at 8.00pm in Aglish Hall. There will be several speakers on the night. Admission €5.

GAA News

Senior: The senior hurlers will play their first County League game away to Kiladangan on weekend March 8.

Juvenile: Coaches have been confirmed for coming year.

U16 – John Madden, Tadhg Nevin, Willie Hough, Paddy Reddin.

U14 – Hubert Duggan, Paddy Reddin, Christopher Fogarty.

U12 – Tom Kennedy, Martina Duffy, Rob Fitzgerald.

U10 – Colm Kennedy.

U8 & U6 – TBC with some coaches lined up.

Minor football: Lorrha Rovers Gaels will begin their North Minor ‘B’ Football Championship away to Tommevara on weekend 22-23 February.

Social Dancing: Continues in the Tony Reddin Centre on Friday, February 21 to the music of Chris Dallat. Dancing from 9.30 to 12.30.

Euro Lotto: Lorrha’s yearly numbers for Euro Lotto were drawn last Tuesday night. Thanks to all the players, club members and speical guest Pat Carroll, Ballea for drawing the numbers.

Sympathies: The club would like to extend its sympathies to the Dermody family after the death of Josie. May she rest in peace.

Registration: Club registration night this Friday night, Feb 21 from 8-9.30 in the dressing rooms. Membership and reg. is – €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/Student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym); €20 – Juvenile (16 & under); Family – €90- (2 adults & 2 children, cap is €100 for 3 or more children.

Music: Tradstone will be in the Tony Reddin Centre on Saturday, April 11 for a night of music and entertainment. Tickets will be distributed soon.
