Tony Reddin Park: The official renaming of the club grounds in Moatfield to Tony Reddin Park took place last Saturday night. The function room was full to capacity as club members, supporters, and friends of Tony Reddin gathered, along with family members to formally honour the man who many speakers said, had put Lorrha on the map.

GAA President John Horan was on hand to formally unveil the plaque with members of the Reddin family which will be erected outside the clubhouse this week.

The club would like to thank RTE’s Damien O’Meara for an excellent job as MC, Seamus J King for a lovely tribute to the life and times of Tony Reddin, Matt Hassett – County Board President and Michael Tierney – North Board Vice-Chairman for attending, as well as representatives from Mullagh and St Rynagh’s GAA Clubs, while John Coman, PRO of the Tipperary Supporters Club accepted the Tony Reddin Perpetual Cup which will be presented each year to the Tipperary senior hurler of the year.

Also on the night, the surviving members of the 1956 senior hurling team that won the North Championship, which Tony Reddin played on, were given special mementos. They were: John Moloney, Frank Larkin, Phil McIntyre, Batty Harding, Seamus King, Martin Darcy while Eugene O’Meara, Paddy O’Meara and Joe Molloy were unable to attend and presentations were accepted on their behalf.

The GAA President also presented the certificate for completion of phase 3 of the GAA’s Healthy Club Project to club Health & Wellbeing Officer Michael O’Carroll and committee members James O’Meara and David Broderick.

The club would like to thank everyone involved with organising the event, particularly the stewards who worked in dreadful weather on Saturday night to provide ample parking.

Under 21 Hurling: Hard luck to the Under 21 hurlers who were defeated 3-10 to 3-8 by Borrisokane in the North ‘B’ final in Puckane on Sunday. Thanks to the players and mentors for their efforts this year.
