    Well Done Bonner Ciaran and Ken on taking the second All-Ireland Final back to Tipperary in 
          one week when Tipp beat Galway 5.22 to 0.12 in the under 21 Final.  Not only was Bonner 
          instrumental in setting up two goals but he also scored a beauty.  UP TIPP

The clash of the ash was heard 3000 miles away. What a game we watched here in Pennsylvania USA. A "GREAT VICTORY" for TIPP………..UP TIPP. Congratulations to Bonner and the TIPP team for the victory against Kilkenny. In the photo with Liam is his cousin Conor O’Shea Clonlara County Clare son of Mary Hogan formerly of Rathcabbin.

          his return to Rathcabbin late on Monday night after he helped to bring the Liam McCarthy Cup
          back to the Premier County when Tipperary beat Kilkenny the previous Sunday.

Recent Wedding.

The wedding took place on Saturday August 7th. in Looscaun Church Portumna of Eoin O’Donoghue son of Bridie and of the late Paddy Lorrha and Priscilla Fogarty daughter of Marion and Paddy Portumna.
The bride was attended by her sisters Elizabeth Sandra and Helena and by her niece Katie O’Brien. The best man was Raymond O’Donoghue brother of the groom and groomsmen were his two brothers Des and Niall and his friend Garry Hogan. Flower girl for the occasion was Kate O’Donoghue niece of the groom while Oisin Hogan a nephew was the page boy.
Fr. Kieran O’Rourke Portumna officiated over the ceremony while Mairead Slevin enhanced the ceremony with the beautiful church music. The grooms sister Caroline and the brides nephew Graham Fogarty brought the offertory gifts to the altar.
Afterwards the newly weds joined with their families and friends for their reception which they held in the Meadow Court Hotel Loughrea and the honeymoon takes place at a later date in Spain. Congratulations and best wishes is extended to Eoin and Priscilla and they are wished many happy years together as they settle down to married life in Portumna.

St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association.

On Thursday 16th September 2010 St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association are having a little together for Fr. Joe Kennedy to say ‘Thank You’ for all his help in setting up the group 5 years ago and his support over the years. The function will be held in the Shed Lorrha Village starting at 4.00pm with a short Ecumenical Service followed by a buffet and a social with music supplied by Pat Conlon. There will be a small charge made for the food. It would be nice if all our members could attend if possible. In order for Denis Maher to cater for the function names of people wishing to attend should be given to either Betty Houlihan on 05791 39085 or Nancy White on 090 9747922 by Monday evening 13th September 2010. Anyone require transport please also let us know. Our weekly session will recommence on Wednesday 22nd September 2010 after our summer break. Emma Stanley the Chiropodist will be in attendance that day. Transport is available. New members are always welcome. Do please drop in for a cup of tea and a chat. Our weekly meetings are held each Wednesday in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall Lorrha from 2.30pm to 4.30pm Last Wednesday we had a very enjoyable and informative bus tour around the Slieve Bloom Mountains under the excellent guidance of Paddy Lowry local historian from Kinnitty. Paddy took us to parts of the area which we have not seen before and yes Paddy we have now got to believe in fairies after our experience. Thanks to Chrissie Dooley Pat Hough’s sister for arranging the trip with Paddy Joe our driver from Walsh’s Coaches and especially to Paddy Lowry. Also thanks to the staff at the Thatch Restaurant Crinkill for the lovely meal afterwards.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Margaret and Jimmy Heenan and family on the death of Margaret’s mother Maureen Loonam Annagh Birr.
After funeral Mass in St. Brendan’s Church Birr on Thursday 2nd. burial took place in Clonoghill cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Congratulations.

Well done and many congratulations to Bonner (Patrick Maher) and the Tipp team on dethroning Kilkenny on Sunday last in their bid for their fifth all-Ireland title. What a performance Tipp served up for this well deserved victory as they bridged the 9 year wait to bring back the Liam McCarthy cup to the Premier County. Well done to all.

Bonner is out again with the under 21 team in the All-Ireland final v Galway in Semple Stadium come Saturday. This game is fixed for 7.00p.m. The parish send the best of luck to him to Ciaran and to Ken and hope they can bring back a second All-Ireland cup. So lets get behind the under 21 squad and give them our support. The pressure is on lads..

Fungi.

A weekend with God’s Creation at Mount Saint Joseph’s Abbey Roscrea with the renowned lecturer and authot Dr. Feehan will take place at 8.00p.m. on September 11th. till noon on September 13th. The focus will be Fungi (mushrooms). If interested please call (087) 2367612 or seanmcdonagh10@gmail.com.

Public Meeting.

A meeting will be held on this Wednesday night the 8th September at 9.00pm in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall Lorrha to organize a suitable function and presentation to mark the transfer of Fr Joe Kennedy from Lorrha to the Parish of Dunkerrin / Moneygall. All organizations/ associations from the Parish are invited to attend.

New Arrival.

Congratulations is extended to Anthony and Helen Slevin Carrigahorig on the birth of their first born a son Denis who came into the world at 9lbs.6oz. recently. The best of luck to all three of you for the future.

New Teaching Staff.

Congratulations is extended to Giolla Kennedy Rathcabbin who commenced teaching in Rathcabbin N.S. on September 1st. replacing Nancy Liffey who retired last June and to Helena Darcy Ardcroney who replaces Mary Coen in Redwood. We hope both ladies have a happy and successful time in their respective schools in the years ahead.
