Little Feet Playschool Ballymacegan Lorrha  held a fundraising Pyjama Day recently with proceeds going to the Irish Hospice Foundation hospice homecare for children programme.

Church News.

Mass will be celebrated for the First Friday of the Month April 1st. in Lorrha Church at 9.30a.m. and in Rathcabbin at 8.00p.m. Confessions half hour before Mass.
St. Patrick’s Missionary Society Kiltegan will this year be making an appeal in the Diocese of Killaloe and this coming week-end April 2nd/3rd. they will be visiting us and speaking at all Masses giving us information on the Missions and seeking our help.

Late Martin O’Dwyer.

The death occurred on Monday March 21st. at Tullamore General Hospital of Martin O’Dwyer Clonaslee Co. Laois and formerly Derry Rathcabbin. In his 83rd. year Martin was a well know character in the parish who liked to meet and chat with people and he will be sadly missed now by all who knew him but in particular by his family. Sympathy is extended to his daughters Geraldine Carroll (Tullamore) Betty Conroy and Ann Gleeson (Rosenallis)Joan Mooney (Cloghan) sons John (England)Martin (Rathcabbin) daughters in-law sons in-law grandchildren great-grandchildren nieces nephews sisters Lizzie O’Dwyer (Ballinderry) Ann Larkin (Waterford) brother John (St. Kieran’s Nursing Home Rathcabbin) Con (England)relatives and friends. After funeral Mass in Our Lady Queen of Ireland Church Rathcabbin on Thursday March 24th. burial took place in Bonaham Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Tracing Relatives.

Tricia Davies is trying to trace her Conway and Gavin relatives in Lorrha and Borrisokane. Michael Conway Lorrha married Sara Gavin Borrisokane in 1863. Tricia would welcome any information she can get in particular on the Conway side. Pony Rides.

From next Sunday April 3rd. the Wren’s Nest Ponies will provide pony rides for young children at the Ferry Inn every Sunday evening from 5 to 7p.m. The service is confined to children less than 10 years of age and the pony is led at all times. Angling Club News

Lorrha/Rathcabin Angling Club held the first round of the Pete Boylett Memorial Cup (Trout competition) on Lough Derg on Sunday 27th March Ten fish were caught Results were as follows 1st Gay Callanan 2lb 1oz 2nd Kevin Callanan 1lb 12oz 3rd James Heenan 1lb 11oz and 4th Pat O’Meara 1lb 7oz The second round will be held in May It is hoped to have a pike fishing competition on Easter Sunday Membership now due (10euros adults 5 euros OAP’s and juniors) new members welcome contact James Heenan 087 2031798.

North Tipperary Hospice Fundraising.

The Committee and members of St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association would like to thank everyone who supported their recent tea/coffee afternoon which was held in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall Lorrha. A total of €870. was raised. A cheque will be presented to the Hospice Committee at the end of April.

St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association.

The Annual General Meeting of St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association will be held on Wednesday 27th April 2011 at 2.30pm in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall Lorrha. It would be appreciated if as many members as possible attended. Some members have held various committee roles since the Association was formed and have worked extremely hard and now deserve a break. Nomination forms for the committee will be sent out over the next week.
We are also doing a spot of fundraising for the group and would appreciate your support. Our members are currently selling lines at €2. per line. The draw will take place after the AGM on the 27th April. The prizes include a hamper meal voucher a supermarket voucher bottle of brandy and a bottle of whiskey.
