Rathcabbin Players will stage a 3 act  Sam Cree comedy ‘Don’t tell the Wife’ in Rathcabbin Hall from Thursday night February 1st. to Sunday night 4th incl. This year Rathcabbin Players are delighted to welcome back on stage Marguerite Walsh.  After a long absence from the “boards” Marguerite has been helping out behind the scenes but this year she stepped up to the mark taking on the part of Enda Wallis. The doors will open at 7.15pm with curtains up at 8pm sharp. The booking line is open daily between 6.30pm and 8.00pm.on (087) 216 4511.

Community Text Alert Forms.

Forms for parishioners to fill up if they are interested in joining the Lorrha & Dorrha Community Text Alert system is now available in the shops in the parish. Anyone filling a form and leaving the registration fee of €20 is to contact Cllr. Michael O’Meara on  (086) 8379300, Declan O’Meara (087) 2609314 or Catty Burke (087) 9300982.

Novice Ploughing.

North Tipperary Ploughing committee will be holding a Novice Ploughing match on Saturday March 2nd . Any male’s and female’s between the age of 17 and 35 who would like to participate is requested to call the secretary Denis Cahalan on (087) 779 3719 for further information on this event.

Catholic Schools Week 21st– 27th Jan. This year’s theme is “Communities of Service”. During this week we hope to give some time to reflect on our school as communities of service Families, parishes, and schools are invited to participate in a week of celebration of Catholic Schools reflecting on their contribution to the common good of society.

Calling Divine Mercy Groups.

A Divine Mercy Alcove has been established in St Mary’s Church, Convoy, Co Donegal, which includes a first-class relic of St Faustina. As part of the on-going development, Killaloe Diocese would like to draw up a list of Divine Mercy Groups. Late Bernadette Turner.

The death took place on Wednesday January 17th of Bernadette (Detty) Turner, Carrig, Birr.
Née Brereton, formally from The Pike, Rathcabbin, Detty attended school in Rathcabbin and was a regular visitor to the parish down through the years for various events.  She passed away peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Middletown House Nursing Home, Courtown, Wexford.
She was predeceased by her husband Tom and son Gareth and is deeply regretted and sadly missed by her son Brian, daughter Carol, son in law Graham, daughter-in-law Hazel, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom sympathy is offered.
After funeral Mass on Monday last in The Church of the Annunciation, Carrig, burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Fundraiser.

Borrisokane & District Vintage Club are raising funds for Milford Hospice by running a Vintage Tractor & Classic Car Run on Sunday 28th January 2024. Starting from Aglish Hall E53 E132 @ 11am. €20 entry per vehicle. This is for Vintage Vehicles only.

Well Done Lorrha Lads.

Congratulations is extended to the Lorrha GAA club who were named last week as North Tipperary club of the year, with Patrick Maher named as the division’s Premier Intermediate hurler of the year. What a wonderful two years it has been for this group of lads and their managerial team who have worked hard to earn victory and to reap this reward. Well done to all and to Patrick Maher who is the worthy recipient.

The Lost Week-End.

Borrisokane Players are delighted to announce their 2024 production of Padraic McIntyres ‘The Lost Weekend’. This 2-act Irish comedy-drama, built around an all-female cast, tells the story of a work team building weekend away & the laughs and stories that ensue. Directed by Tom Hayes, this production runs at The Clarke Memorial Hall, Borrisokane from Friday January 26th to Sunday January 28th, 2024. Curtains up at 8.30pm sharp. Enhancement Programme.

The Local Enhancement Programme 2024 capital fund will support groups, particularly in disadvantaged areas, to carry out necessary repairs and improvements their facilities, purchase equipment such as tables and chairs, tools and signage, laptops and printers, lawnmowers, canopies and training equipment etc.

This funding will help communities, community groups and committees, allowing them to continue to provide valuable services to the people in their area, and in the process strengthen the bonds that tie communities together. The fund also aims to support local strategic priorities through linkages with Local Economic Community Plans (LECPs).

The fund also includes ring fenced funding for Women’s Groups i.e. community projects and groups that support the ethos of women’s sheds and other such groups or projects aimed at providing social networks for women.

The Local Enhancement Programme 2024 is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development. GAA News.

There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €3,600. The numbers drawn on 22 January were: 9-11-25-26.  1 Match 3: Nancy White wins €100. Promoters: Mary Cleary, Madeleine Maher, D&K Mannion.
Next Mondays jackpot is €3,700 with Team 4 in charge of the draw. Thank you for your continued support.

North Tipperary Club of the Year: Having been named as North Tipperary Club of the Year, we will be delighted to host the North Tipperary GAA Awards Night on Saturday, February 17th at the Tony Reddin centre. Congrats to Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher on being named North Tipperary Premier Intermediate Hurler of the Year.

Membership: Is now due. It must be paid before participating in any training or game. €40 – juvenile and non-playing members; €60 for student with gym membership; €100 for adult with gym membership. Membership can be paid on Clubforce, where you can also sign up for the lotto at a reduced rate.

Social Dancing: Continues in the Tony Reddin Centre next Friday night from 9.30pm to the music of Colm Aungier.
