Church News.

Weekend Masses in Our Parish  are in Lorrha 6.30pm Saturday evenings  and Rathcabbin 11.30am Sunday Mornings

Weekday Masses: Lorrha 9.30am Monday Mornings (except bank holidays)

Friday next 5th January is the First Friday on the month.  Mass will be in Rathcabbin Church at 7.30pm

Feast of the Epiphany – Sat. 6th January. We mark the Epiphany of our Lord  at Mass on Saturday evening  at 6.30pm.

Charity Concert.

A Charity concert in aid of Mid-West Cancer Foundation will be held on Saturday 6th January 2024 at Treacy’s Oakwood Hotel at 8pm One of the highlights of the concert will be the singing of World Acclaimed Composer Patrick Cassidy’s “Sanctus” (from the Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York), sung by Harmony Bro and Non-Nobis Domine Choir. Tickets can be bought from – Aidan White – at 086-3197235.

Community Alert.

Following on from a very successful community crime meeting held recently, it was agreed to get the community text alert system re-activated. Anyone interested in joining the Lorrha & Dorrha Community Text Alert can contact Cllr. Michael O’Meara on  (086) 8379300, Declan O’Meara (087) 2609314 or Catty Burke (087) 9300982. Registration fee is €20.00.

Site Required.

 North Tipperary Ploughing are presently looking for a suitable site to stage the 2024 championships which take place in March. If you think you might have a suitable venue please call the secretary Denis Cahalan on (087) 779 3719.

Christmas tree Recycling.

Christmas Trees can be dropped off Free of Charge for recycling from Tuesday the 2nd January to  Saturday 13th January at the following locations when they resume normal opening hours on Tuesday 2nd January 08.30- 15.30 at Nenagh Recycling Centre, Nenagh, Roscrea Recycling Centre, Roscrea.

Come Celebrate with the Silverware.

Don’t forget to get your tickets for the Lorrha GAA dinner dance which takes place on Saturday, January 13th in the County Arms Hotel, Birr, with North & County premier intermediate hurling championship winning team to be celebrated on the night. A band and DJ will play. Tickets, €50, are on sale throughout the parish or by contacting secretary Maureen Guinan 0872426965 for details, with the option available of paying on Revolut.

Sam Cree Comedy for Rathcabbin.

Rathcabbin Players are busy rehearsing for their forthcoming annual production of  to the popular Sam Cree comedy ‘Don’t tell the Wife’. The play is produced by Pat Kennedy and will take place in Rathcabbin Hall. Further details later so watch this space.

GAA News

There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €3,300. The numbers drawn on 1 January were: 16-17-18-19. No Match 3.  Lucky Dips: Gertie Boland, Fiona Daly, Mark Kennedy, Geraldine Tuohy.
