Ann Delahunt Smyth and Madeleine Maher are holding a tractor and vintage car run on Sunday October 8th in Lorrha at 12noon. The run will take off at 1.30pm. Proceeds are going to Milford Hospice and Lauralynn foundation. Raffle and auction on the day. Artist Noel Kinsella from ArtD Gallery Borrisokane has presented the two ladies with a lovely painting of Clodagh McIntyre in action with Tipperary and this painting will be auctioned on the day. Age friendly Tipperary, in collaboration with Irish Hospice Foundation and Lynch Solicitors Clonmel are offering free seminar’s on arranging your personal, medical and legal affairs for the future. Learn about Wills, Enduring Power of Attorney, and advance care planning over light refreshments. One such event will be taking place in The Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh, this Wednesday October 4th from 1.30pm to 4.00pm. or in the Anner Hotel, Thurles also this Wednesday from 6 to 8.30pm.

Free Sustainable Gardening Course.

Tipperary County Council are delighted to announce a free Sustainable Gardening Course to celebrate SDG Week. This course will be run by horticulturist and environmentalist, Aoife Munn and will cover many topics including, New thinking in planting plans, Pond Building, Working with peat free compost, Pruning, Grow your own vegetables, Taking cuttings and much more…
The course will be run on Saturday 7th October from 10am to 4pm in Cabragh Wetlands, Holycross, Thurles E41 T266. A light lunch will be provided for on the day. Rathcabbin Players.

Rathcabbin Players are holding a meeting to decide on a play for the new year, this Thursday night October 5th at 8.30pm.in Rathcabbin Hall. Looking forward to seeing you all.

Harvest Thanksgiving Service.

The annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service will take place in St Ruadhans Church of Ireland Lorrha this coming Sunday 8th October at 8.00pm. All are welcome.

The Lorrha Premier Intermediate semi-final decider  with Cashel which was down for decision last Saturday, was postponed due to a bereavement in the Cashel club. The game is now expected to go ahead next week-end. See Lorrha GAA facebook for details.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Marian Quirke, Lorrha on the death of her brother Colm Doolan, Spain and late of Blueball which occurred on August 3rd.
After funeral Mass on Saturday last September 30th  in St. Brigid’s Church, Mountbolus, burial of ashes took place in Lowertown Cemetery, Mountbolus. May he rest in peace.

Halloween Raffle.

Rathcabbin Tidy Towns are running their annual Halloween Raffle. It will run for the month of October. The draw will take place on Friday 28th. Lots of prizes on offer this year. Tickets are available in Kelly’s shop and also on idonate. A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored prizes for our raffle. We really appreciate all the support. Good luck to all who enter.

News from Lorrha School.

We commenced the new school year by wishing our former principal Mrs. Olive O’Meara a happy retirement after spending thirty seven years working in the school, twenty four as principal. We extend best wishes to Olive and hope she enjoys a long happy and healthy retirement.
We wish Ms. Aoife McLoughney the best of luck as acting principal until the appointment of a new principal is completed and we welcome Ms. Aisling Carey who has joined our staff for the next few weeks.
We welcome back all our students who have progressed to new classes and we also wish sixth class the best of luck as they settle into secondary school.
We continue with hot dinners for all our students for the new school year.
We travelled to Thurles on Thursday last and participated in the Primary Schools Cross Country Championships. Well done to all our students who participated and had a wonderful day. Many thanks to the organisers of this event.
Swimming commences this Wednesday October 4th in Birr Leisure Centre and will continue until 29th November.
The annual Portumna Community School blitz for Primary schools was cancelled last week due to flooded pitches and storm Agnes. Hopefully it will be rearranged in the near future.
Our school Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages can all be found at ‘Scoil Lua Naofa-Lorrha National School’ which are updated regularly.
We continue to collect used batteries in association with WEEE Ireland, Battery Recycling. By taking part, we are helping to tackle climate change, protecting the environment and supporting the children, families and staff at LauraLynn, Irelands Children Hospice. Used batteries, can be left into the school.

Did you know Tipperary Local Link runs a Door-to-Door (DRT) service from Lorrha to Birr every Friday? Departing from Lorrha at 10am & returning from Birr @ 2pm.  The service areas covered are Lorrha, Rathcabbin, Taylors Cross, Kileen, Riverstown & into Birr.  Tipperary Local Link operate a service from Lorrha to Nenagh every Tuesday & Saturday & also from Lorrha to Roscrea every Thursday & Saturday.  If you or anyone you know would like to avail of this service, please dial 052-6166140 for more information.

GAA News.

Premier intermediate hurling: Our rescheduled semi-final vs Cashel goes ahead this Sunday at 2.30 in Toomevara. Make sure to get out and support the lads.

U15 hurling: Congrats to the Lorrha Rovers Gaels under-15s on their 1-11 to 0-3 North final win over Borrisokane last weekend. Best of luck to the lads against Gortnahoe-Glengoole in the county semi-final this Sunday. The game takes place in Borris-Ileigh at 5.00.

Euro-millions: Congrats to the 65 winners of our Euro Millions €50 cash prize from last year’s campaign. All winners have been announced on our social media and, if they haven’t been contacted yet, they will be contacted this week. This year’s campaign has now kicked off sp please return full books of tickets to any of our committee members as soon as possible. If you still have tickets to sell, please try to get them back in the next week.

Sympathy: Is extended to the the Moloney family, Cashel, on their sad bereavement and to Rose Mannion on the death of her brother in-law Bobby Williams, Kilkenny. May he Rest in peace.

Social dancing: Continues next Friday to the music of Declan Augnier at 9.30.
