Heritage Week 2023 Free Event.

 Family Fun Day.

Heritage Week events are well underway, and the Heritage sub-committee of the Lorrha Development Association is in full swing, organizing a spectacular “Family Fun Day” scheduled for Sunday, August 20th, at 2 pm, right in the heart of Lorrha NS grounds. This promises to be a day filled with laughter, games, and creative activities for all ages.
One of the highlights of this event is the grand unveiling of “Through a Child’s Eyes,” a captivating book brimming with short stories that have been penned and animated by the talented students from all three National Schools within our parish. This collection provides a unique insight into the vivid imagination of our young authors.
Join us for a day bursting with excitement, as we offer a range of engaging games and creative activities tailored to both the young and the young at heart. The festivities are sure to bring joy and memorable experiences to everyone, big and small.
Adding an artistic flair to the occasion, our program will also feature the unveiling of Biodiversity artwork, thoughtfully crafted by the skilled students of Bramble Art Studio. This display not only captures the beauty of nature but also serves as a poignant reminder of the need to preserve our environment for future generations.
Delicious catering by CS Chefs and refreshing treats by SCEAL will be available to tantalize your taste buds throughout the event. With open arms, we welcome all members of the community to join us in this celebration of heritage, creativity, and unity.
Remember, Sunday, August 20th, at 2 pm is the time to gather at Lorrha NS grounds for a day of endless enjoyment and togetherness. This promises to be an event that you won’t want to miss!

Bus Service Available.

Did you know Tipperary Local Link runs a Door-to-Door(DRT) service from Lorrha to Birr every Friday? Departing from Lorrha at 10am & returning from Birr @ 2pm.  The service areas covered are Lorrha, Rathcabbin, Taylors Cross, Kileen, Riverstown & into Birr.  Tipperary Local Link operate a service from Lorrha to Nenagh every Tuesday & Saturday & also from Lorrha to Roscrea every Thursday & Saturday.  If you or anyone you know would like to avail of this service, please dial 052-6166140 for more information.

New Parish Ladies Group.

Lorrha Dorrha Ladies Group are meeting on Tuesday 22nd August in Rathcabbin Hall at 8 p.m. New members from the community are most welcome.

New Scams.

Gardaí  say there are two new scams doing the rounds and have warned people to be vigilant of these latest two new scam’s.
The first is a text message, purporting to be from the Credit Union, is yet another way for fraudsters to steal personal information and money from unsuspecting individuals. The message instructs people to visit a disguised fake Credit Union website link.  Gardai are advising the public never to click on the link contained in such texts and always delete on receipt. The second scam is an email and gardaí are advising people here too, not to engage with this scam email which tells the receiver that they have been issued with a summons. The email, which is from La Garda Síochána, asks the recipient to respond within 72 hours. Members of the public are being warned not to engage or open any attachments.
If you have responded to such a text or paid the scammers, contact your Bank immediately and report the matter to your local Garda Station.

Litter Management Plan.

Tipperary County Council is currently replacing its existing Litter Management Plan.The Draft Litter Management Plan has been prepared and sets out objectives for the prevention and control of litter as well as measures to encourage public awareness for the period of the plan 2024-2026. All interested parties are invited to make submissions or observations on the Draft Litter Management Plan. Closing date for submissions is 4.30 p.m. on Monday 28th August 2023. Now is the time to have your say.

Well done to the Lorrha Premier Intermediate squad and their backroom team on their fine performance in the game against Killenaule in round 2 of the championship last weekend. Final score, Lorrha 3.23 – Killenaule 2.22.

Rathcabbin Hall Notes.

Tractor/ car run in aid of Rathcabbin Hall will take place on Sunday September 3rd at 12.30. More details to follow. If interested in participating, please call the number above.

GAA News.

There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn on 14 August: 3-4-13-25.  2 Match 3s share €100: Antoinette McKeogh & Catherine O’Meara.  Promoters: Noreen Houlihan, Eamonn Maher, Kelly’s.  Next Monday’s jackpot remains capped at €15,000. Team 5 in charge of the draw. Thank you for your continued support.

Premier Intermediate Hurling: Well done to the lads on their 3-23 to 2-22 win over Killenaule in the second round of the county championship in Thurles at the weekend. We’re out again in our final group game in two weeks time against Portroe.

Tipperary GAA Draw: The first draw in the new Tipperary Club draw is taking place on Fri August 25. Prizes range from a car, a lotto jackpot of €3000 minimum and cash prizes of €300 to €5,000. Tickets cost €100 and €50 of that is returned directly to our club. We have had great success in this draw over the years, we won a car 3 years ago, and the lotto jackpot later that year, the top cash prize of €5000 last year and numerous other cash prizes along the way. If you are interested in joining the draw please contact Kathleen Gleeson (086 8694528)
