Wedding Bells.

Congratulations is extended to Leeona Duane, daughter of Mary and Johnny, Ballymacegan and Thomas Darcy, Borrisokane who were married recently in St. Ruadhan’s Church, Lorrha. We wish the newly weds many happy years together.

 Rathcabbin Development/Tidy Towns.

 The group meet every Thursday evening at 7pm and would like to invite anyone who can join them for an hour.  Many hands make light work.

Have You a Vote?

Tipperary County Council wish to advise people that the registration process to vote has changed. Updating the register will help to ensure that entries are accurate and up to date as well as enabling the identification of entries on the register that require follow up. Registering to vote for the first time is now possible online at www.checktheregister.ie Use of PPSNs facilitates identity checking meaning that now, most people won’t have to visit a Garda station to have forms witnessed. 16- and 17-year-olds will be able to pre-register to vote. Introduction of a pending electors list enables those 16 and 17 to pre-register and be automatically registered when they turn 18.  You must be living full time in the State to be eligible to vote. We will ask you your nationality in your application as this may affect which elections you can vote in.
An Irish citizen: You are eligible to vote in all elections and referendums . An EU citizen:  You are eligible to vote in European and local elections. A British citizen:  You are eligible to vote in Dáil and local elections.  All other:  You are eligible to vote in local elections. Update now and secure your vote. Silver Arch Family Centre are delighted to offer the following programmes in Borrisokane this July.  A Health and Wellbeing Programme for Over 60’s – 6 week that looks at practical ways of incorporating good habits to help you age well through exercise, diet & social engagement ,starting Monday 10th July at 11am in Silver Arch FRC Outreach Office, Borrisokane, total cost of €10 per person for all six weeks. A free Healthy Food Made Easy 6 week programme for anyone interested in improving knowledge of nutrition and preparing healthier meals, starting Monday 10th July at 2pm in Silver Arch FRC Outreach Office, Borrisokane.

Church News

Catholic Gandparents pilgrimage to Knock will be on Sunday 23rd July 2023, celebrating the world day for grandparents and the elderly. This years theme is ‘His mercy is from age to age’.
Diocesan Pilgrimige to Knock on Sunday July 2nd.  New members are invited from the Parish & community to attend. The Ark Children’s Club at The HUB is available for those coming with small children (open Wednesday to Sunday). Names as soon as possible please as coaches have to be organised. Under Mary’s Mantle’ is a conference on faith & culture for young adults (18-35) with talks, prayer, Mass, Confession, workshops, food & social in the historic All Hallows campus, DCU, Dublin. It takes place Saturday  Sunday,19th & 20th August, with a discounted ticket available for both days. If you’re free for one, single day tickets are also available. Youth 2000 Summer Festival. Join young people between 16 and 35 this August at the Youth 2000 Summer Festival. The festival takes place in Clongowes Wood College, Clane, Co Kildare from Thurs 10th August to Sun 13th August 2023. The festival includes inspiring talks, music, prayer, workshops, dramas, reconciliation & healing service and Mass. Donation only & we have buses going from all over Ireland. Rathcabbin Hall Fundraising Continues.

Rathcabbin Hall committee continue to raise much needed funds and are holding a further clothes collection from June 26th to July 10th. Clothes can be dropped off at any time during this time by contacting Clare on (087) 1364936 or Marie on (087) 6129053. Room available for courses or meetings with kitchen facilities.

GAA News.

There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn on 3 July were: 1-11-12-14.  1 Match 3: Sharon O’Donnell wins €100.  Promoters: Kathleen Gleeson, Maureen Guinan, Madeleine Maher.  Next Monday’s jackpot remains capped at €15,000. Team 7 in charge of the draw. Thank you for your continued support.

​Premier Intermediate: Lorrha will begin their championship campaign on Saturday 15th or Sunday 16th July in the North Premier Intermediate semi-finals. Our opponents will be known following this weekend’s quarter finals.

Junior Hurling: Congrats to our junior ‘B’ hurlers on their 0-18 to 0-16 win over Templederry last Saturday in the North Championship. They take on Silvermines in the final group game in on 15th or 16th July.

Under 19 Hurling: Well done to Lorrha Rovers who defeated Borrisokane 3-16 to 1-15 in the first round of the North ‘B’ Championship last week. Their next game is against Newport in Tony Reddin Park on Wednesday 12th July at 7.00pm.

Under 15 Hurling: Lorrha Rovers take on Borrisokane this Thursday at 7.00pm in Borrisokane in the first round of the championship.

Social Dancing: Continues this Friday in the Tony Reddin Centre to the music of Andy Feery at 9.30pm.
