Retirement.

Violet and Henry Harding, Lorrha wish to announce that they have retired from the garden centre. They will no longer be supplying flowers, compost, etc. to trade or individuals. Both of them would like to express their sincere thanks to everyone who supported them down through the years – they will miss you all.  For many a long year, Violet and Henry worked tirelessly to supply flowers to anyone and everyone for about six months of the year without a spring or summer break. We wish Violet and Henry many happy and healthy years ahead so they can enjoy their well deserved rest and retirement.

Meals on Wheels.

North Tipperary Development Company will be delivering freshly prepared meals, in the parish of Lorrha starting on Monday 17th April.  If you are aged 65 or over, living in a rural  isolated area in the parish and would like to have a hot meal delivered to your door, call (0505) 24168 or email reception@ntdc.ie. The cost is €6 per meal which consists of main course and dessert.  Deliveries take place three days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Recent Baptism.

Congratulations is extended to Una Louise Coleman who was baptized recently in St. Ruadhan’s Church, Lorrha. Una Louise is the second daughter of Sharon and Thomas, Kilregane and a little sister to Cara. Well done all.

Reminder.

Artist Izabela Strzala will exhibit her work  for the month of April from 9.30am to 5.30pm  Monday through to Saturday in the Art D Gallery, Borrisokane.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Philip McGrath and family Lorrha on the death of his mother Bridget (Biddy) McGrath, Loughmore.
Née Toomey, Biddy passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday April 4th. in South Tipperary General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Phil and along with her son Philip, she is deeply regretted by her sons Tom (Taffy), Joe, and John, daughters Catherine (Ryan), Mary (Hennessy) and Noeleen (Ryan), brothers Tommy, John and Mikey, sister Peggy (Fallon), daughters in law Eileen, Philomena, Jacqueline, sons in law James, Paddy and Eamonn, John’s partner Oonagh, grandchildren, Shane, Thomas, Tomás, Philip, Padraic, Joseph, Arlene, Bríd, Susie, Joseph, Lochlann, Ceri, Dervla, Aoife, Zoe and Eamonn Óg, granddaughters in law Aisling and Lauren, great-grandchildren Cillian and Cayleigh, brother in law John McGrath, sisters in law Peggy Connolly, Diane Toomey, Noreen McGrath and Mary Toomey, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
After funeral service on Good Friday April 7th in The Church of the Nativity, Loughmore, burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Killaloe Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Bishop Fintan will lead the Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes from Shannon Airport on Tue 27th June, returning Sun 2nd July. €809.00 includes flight airport transfers, full board with three meals a day, sanctuary levy.  For more information and bookings, please contact, Joe Walsh Tours 01-2410800.

Community Games.

Lorrha Community Games will have a registration evening on Thursday 20th of April in Tony Reddin Park from 6pm to 8pm. Events will include races for children aged 6 to 16 years and the long puck for boys U12 and girls U14.

Lorrha National School invites all prospective parents to visit the school in the coming weeks at a time that suits you. Come & meet the teachers, view the facilities and take a look at what we have to offer. We were granted DEIS status last year and one of the advantages is, hot dinners served to all pupils five days a week. There is also a bus service available for pupils to the school. GAA News.

There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn on 10 April were: 7-10-24-27.  No Match 3. Lucky Dips: Monica Cusack, Johnny Moore, Andre Robinson, DFM O’Donoghue.
Promoters: D&K Mannion, Sean Mannion, Margaret O’Brien.  The Jackpot remains capped at €15,000. Team 3 in charge of next Mondays draw. Thank you for your continued support.

Premier Intermediate: We have been drawn in a group with Killenaule, Portroe and Gortnahoe/Glengoole for the county championship which begins in late July.

In the County League, we host Knockavilla-Kickhams in Lorrha at 12 noon this Sunday. Best of luck to the lads.

Under 15 Hurling: Well done to the Lorrha Rovers under-15 team on a spirited performance at the County Féile in Littleton on Saturday. The lads beat Mullinahone in the first game and were narrowly beaten by Aherlow/Lattin Cullen and Moycarkey/Borris in their remaining two games.

Euro-Millions: Our syndicate won a healthy €2,083 in the last month’s draws. This takes our prize fund to €2,780 for the year.

Fashion show: A massive thank you from all at the juvenile club to everyone who participated in our fashion show on Saturday night. To all the shops (Ladies Day boutique, Michelle’s boutique, Lollipopz Kids wear, Larkins formal wear, Jerro’s boutique, Bourke sports and Guinan shoes) and to all the sponsors, who provide us with such beautiful clothes and prizes. Thanks also to everyone who turned up on the night, you all made it a fantastic event and we are extremely grateful.

Social Dancing: Continues next Friday at 9.30pm in the Tony Reddin Centre to the music of the Paudie Coffey Band.
