Open to the Public.
Redwood Castle, Lorrha will be open to the public this Wednesday 15th June from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.
Come along and view one of the oldest castles in Ireland, still owned by its original clan, the MacEgans. Michael Egan from Castlebar, restored the entire castle to its former glory and used it for a second family home. Now owned and run by his daughter, Coleesa, the castle opens to the public during summer months as a sight of historic interest.
Official Opening Change of Time.
Minister for Education Norma Foley will officially open the new extension to Redwood School. She will be joined by Bishop Fintan Monahan and other dignitaries on Thurs 16th June at 4.30pm. Please Note change of time. There will be lots of entertainment with tea & refreshments afterwards. There will also be Mass on Sat 18th June at 6.30pm in Redwood church to bless the school. We would like to invite everyone to come along and join us on both days to celebrate this significant occasion in the school’s history.
Sympathy.
Sympathy is extended to Joe Dolan and family, Lossernane on the death of his uncle Ted (Edward) Coughlan, New York and formally Ballybeg, Coolderry, who passed away recently after a short illness. Ted, who was 88 years old, spent most of his life in the US and is the last of that generation of his family. Burial took place in the US. May he rest in peace.

The best of luck is extended to Clodagh McIntyre and the Tipperary senior camogie squad when they travel to play Wexford on Saturday 18th. Time and venue to be confirmed. This is a must win game for Tipp as they now face an uphill struggle to qualify out of their group in this year’s championship.

Coffee Morning.
To mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2022, Silver Arch Resource Centre, in conjunction with the HSE Safeguarding & Protection Team, is hosting a free coffee morning in Tyone Community Centre on Wed 15th June from 11am to 12:30pm. This day hopes to be a useful platform to provide information on how and where to access support if people are concerned for themselves or others. Virtual Dementia Café.
Nenagh & Ballina-Killaloe Virtual Dementia Cafe invites you to join us for our next virtual dementia cafe on Thurs 16th June at 7pm (rescheduled from our May cafe). Our guest speaker is Tim O’Donoghue who will be speaking on the topic of driving assessments for people with varying medical conditions or who have concerns around capacity to drive. Art Exhibition.
Creative Spirits Art Group Borrisokane is holding their “Borrisokane in Bloom” Art Exhibition in Nenagh Arts Centre from Fri 17th June to Mon 27th June. This group of talented Ladies meets weekly with their Tutor Melissa Ryan of Tipperary ETB. Everyone is welcome to pop in and view this lovely exhibition.

Lorrha Cemetery Committee.
The annual Lorrha Cemetery Mass will be held on Saturday evening June 25th at 6.30pm. Weather permitting the Mass will be celebrated in the Cemetery grounds, otherwise it will take place in the Church. There will be a maintenance collection on the evening and we are very grateful for the continued support.
Summer Camp.
Busy Bodies Summer Camp 2022 takes place in Killeen National School, with week 1 commencing 4th July, & week 2 from 12th July. Activities include sports, swimming, cooking, music, arts and much more. Junior Hurling: Hard luck to the Junior Bs on their loss to Silvermines in the League semi-final. They are looking forward to the first round of the championship at home to Knockshegowna on weekend 24-26 June.
