Our very own Clodagh McIntyre in action on Sunday last when the Tipperary Senior camogie girls played Clare in the first round of the All Ireland Championship. The sides finished level on 0.10 points apiece.                                                            

 Communion.

Well done to the young people from the parish who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Sunday last in St. Ruadhan’s Church, Lorrha.  Fr. Michael praised the candidates, their parents and teachers for their involvement in the Sacrament. Zoe McGrath, Oliver Seman, Ruby Ryan and Teegan Ryan. We wish them every blessing into the future.

Lorrha Cemetery Committee.

All officers were returned for another year at the Lorrha Cemetery Committee  AGM which was held recently.
The annual  Lorrha Cemetery Mass will be held on Saturday evening June 25th at 6.30pm, weather permitting. There will be a maintenance collection on the evening and we are very grateful for the continued support.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Triona Dolan and family, Lissernane and the extended Claffey and Callagy families on the untimely passing of her nephew Shane Callagy which occurred on May 9th in Croydon. Shane will repose in Dignity Funeral Care Funeral Home, on the grounds of Portumna Retirement Village (H53 AY18) on this Wednesday May 25th from 5pm with removal at 7pm to Saint Brigid’s Church, Portumna. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11am streaming live on the following link Shane’s Funeral Mass. Funeral will continue afterwards to Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Portumna. May he rest in Peace.
Sympathy is also extended to the family and relatives of Anne McKeon , née Kirwan, Dublin and late of Lords Park, Rathcabbin who passed away on Thursday 12th May. Cremation took place in Dardistown Crematorium following funeral Mass in St. Anthony’s Church, Clontarf on Friday May 20th , May she rest in peace.
Sympathy is extended to Kathyrn Hartnett, Ballymacegan on the death of her brother Tony White, Nenagh which occurred on Tuesday May 10th. After funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Rosary Church Nenagh on Friday 20th burial took place in Lisbony Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Hard Luck.

Tipp senior hurlers took a heavy beating from Cork on Sunday last after a twelve points loss 1.24 to 3.30 saw them out of the championship. Commiserations to Brian Hogan and Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher. It was great to see Bonner making an entry from the subs bench and even more rewarding to see him get his name on the scoresheet. A flash back to former glory days..

Well Done.

Well done to Clodagh McIntyre and the Tipperary Senior camogie team who shared the points with Clare in the first round of the Senior Championship on Saturday last recording 0.10 points each. Tipp have a lot of work to do going forward and we wish Clodagh and the girls the best of luck this Saturday 28th when they travel to Dublin to play that side.

North Tipp Ploughing.

There will be an important meeting in the Yanks in Borrisokane on this Wednesday night May 25th at 8.30pm. Entries forms for the National Ploughing Championships must be signed.

Lorrha Camogie.

Well done to the U12 girls who recorded a victory over Silvermines in their first opening match in their competition.
Our Adult team will hold a medal presentation night in Dooleys Hotel  on Saturday 11th of June with a meal, band an DJ. Tickets are available from committee members so get your dancing shoes on for a what will be a celebratory night for the parish.
Well done  to Clodagh McIntyre and the Tipp team who drew with Clare on Saturday in the first round of the championship.

Lorrha Development Association

In  response to the Biodiversity crisis, LDA is in the process of developing a Community Biodiversity Action Plan under the guidance of ecologist Anne Marie Mahon. On Saturday 28th May she will facilitate an ecological survey workshop, providing us with an opportunity to conduct ecological surveys of walls, hedgerows and grasslands. Any knowledge level is suitable.
The following day, Sunday 29th May, Anne Marie will facilitate a Community Biodiversity Survey, guiding us to conduct surveys using skills acquired the day before, or just join in and learn as you go. Lorrha schoolchildren have already learned how to spot flowers so bring them along. Events on both days begin at 10am and the assembly point is Lorrha Community Hall. Do please come along and be part of the community response to the Biodiversity crisis. Enquiries to Mary, 087-2601413.

Summer Camp.

Busy Bodies Summer Camp 2022 takes place in Killeen National School, with week 1 commencing 4th July, & week 2 from 12th July. Activities include sports, swimming, cooking, music, arts and much more. Ages 3 to 10 years. Time from 9.30am to 3pm with the school opening at 8am. Bring a lunch. Phone Ann on 087 9625218 for more info & booking details.

Church News.

Mass times in our parish are as follows. Monday Mornings at 9.30am in Lorrha Church (except Bank Holidays). Every Saturday evening at 6.30pm in Lorrha Church. Every Sunday morning at 11.30am in Rathcabbin Church.
Lough Derg welcomes Pilgrims again with a full Pilgrimage programme this summer. Three Day Pilgrimage: 1st Jun- 15th Aug. Booking advised. Concessions available for students, seniors & groups. One Day Retreats & guided Pilgrim Path experience: dates in May & late August through September. GAA News.

There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €11,200. The numbers drawn on 23 May were: 16-20-23-31. Lucky Dips: Mary Brady, Mary Coen, Annie Cowan, L&M Gleeson. Promoters: Thomas P Cahalan, Kevin Molloy, Mulrooney’s Gala.
Next Monday’s jackpot is €11,300 with Team 5 in charge of the draw. Thank you for your continued support.

Intermediate: The Intermediate hurlers host Ballina in Lorrha on Sunday at 12.00 noon in the County League Division 3 semi-final.

Social Dancing: continues this Friday to the music of Noel Briody. Doors open at 9.00pm.
