Tidy Towns.

Congratulations is extended to all who worked so hard throughout the year to help keep Lorrha looking so well which gained five extra points in the Tidy Towns competition.
After receiving the highest points in North Tipperary last year the biggest fear the group had was loosing points this year as keeping the standards up can indeed prove difficult. However there was no loss as our overall marks rose to 269. Although the adjudicator who called on June 9th paid complements on the control of litter the group were disappointed to note that no marks were awarded her. Also disappointing was to note that no marks were awarded under Wildlife and Natural Amenities as a lot of work was given to this project. Many thanks once again is extended to everybody concerned and do please keep up the good work.

Meeting.

Lorrha Development Association meeting on Tuesday night September 20th at 8.00pm in the community hall. All are welcome.

Gratitude.

Lorrha Development Association and the Residence Committee wish to extend thanks to North Tipperary Co. Council for securing and erecting the new traffic calming light on the entrance to the village from the Birr road side. Both group’s wish to extend thanks also to Councillor Michael O’Meara for his help and support with this particular project.
The new sign / light flashes to the oncoming motorist asking them to slow down approaching the village and motorists are asked to adhere to this request as children and adults cross the road just further up to gain access to the school and the hall.

Looking For A Photograph.

Mary Bermingham is looking for a photograph of her grandfather who served as a Garda in the parish of Lorrha during the 1930 / 1940’s. Mary is a member of the force herself and is tracing her relatives but is after any photograph she can get of her late grandfather who was an accomplished hurler too with the local club. Can anyone out there help Mary? If you have a photo of Jack Gleeson or you think you may be able to help Mary she can be contacted on (087) 2469752 and if you don’t get a answer leave a message and she will get back to you.
