Lorrha Notes

North Tipp Ploughing.

At the last meeting of the current season, of the North Tipperary Ploughing Association, Chairman Ray Clancy thanked the committee and members and indeed everyone who helped in whatever way during the very successful championships held on March 6th. He paid a special tribute to the land owner for the use of the property on the day and to Nenagh Gardai for their valued assistance. Proceeds from the refreshments and the gate collection (both of which were voluntary), will be divided equally between Embrace, the farm accident charity and the North Tipp Hospice.
All members wished the hard working Secretary Denis Cahalan a happy 70th birthday and the good wishes were also extended also to the President Eileen Duffy who celebrated her 88th birthday recently too. Well done both.

Census 2022.

Our next census will be taken on Sunday night coming April 3rd and every man, woman and child  present in Ireland on that night must be included on the form. A team of 5,100 enumerators have been delivering and continue to deliver, over 2 million census forms to every household in the country. These forms must be completed on census night and will be collected by an enumerator before 6 May.
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has said that this year’s census will generate a detailed picture of social and living conditions in Ireland.  The census provides a uniquely comprehensive account of the population of Ireland as well as providing a valuable historic record for future generations to study. As we mark the Decade of Centenaries, and examine the progress we have made as a nation, it will be fascinating to see what Census 2022 tells us about our country. The form features a number of new questions including renewable energy sources, childcare, smoking and working from home. This will add to the immense value the census provides.

Sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of  Padraig McCole (Woodford) formerly Lorrha who died recently. May he rest in peace.
