Late Margaret Gleeson.
The peaceful death took place on Thursday February 24th at Tullamore Hospital in the presence of her loving family, of Margaret Gleeson, Lordspark, Rathcabbin.
Née McLoughney, news of Margaret’s unexpected passing brought much sadness and regret to the parish and surrounding areas. She was a very positive individual with a great outlook on life and she epitomised all that was good about parish and community. She gave freely of her time and energy to her local GAA club from the time she arrived in the parish, working quietly behind the scenes at functions, serving as their PRO for many years, as lotto promoter and county fundraising promoter.
Margaret was a dedicated wife working hard on the family farm and a wonderful family person, in whom her pride and joy was so obvious and to whom her passing is an unimaginable sorrow. She was much admired by her neighbours, a friend to them all offering a listening ear, warm friendship and a helping hand where needed and all without fuss. Everyone was welcome to her kitchen and to a cup of tea and a chat.
Margaret will be sadly missed from the community but above all by her family, husband Lar, sons Barry and Ollie, daughters Clare and Kathleen, sisters Alice, Maureen, Pauline and Geraldine, grandchildren Brian, Rory, Moya, Isa, Katerina and Alana, daughter-in-law Elaine, sons-in-law Denis and Willie, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom sympathy is offered. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Bridget and Ned, brother Sean and daughter-in-law Breda.
After funeral Mass in Our Lady Queen of Ireland Church Rathcabbin on Monday 28th Margaret was laid to rest in Bonoham cemetery. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
Sympathy.
Sympathy is extended to the Milne family Ballymacegan on the death of their cousin Brendan Milne, Kilcormac and formally Crinkle, which occurred suddenly on February 19th. After funeral Mass in St. Brigid’s Church, Mountbolue on Thursday 24th burial took place in St. Joseph’s cemetery Kilcormac. May he rest in peace.
Commiserations.
Hard luck to Brian and Bonner and the Tipperary senior hurling team who lost by one point to Dublin, Tipp’s first defeat in the league, in a game where the sides were level on six occasions. Final score Tipp 0.21 Dublin 2.16.
Well Done Aishling.
Many congratulations are extended to our Knockshegowna neighbor Aishling Rafferty who was crowned TG4 Glór Tíre winner recently. The University of Limerick Music Student emerged as the winner after seeing off stiff competition from the very talented Rachel Goode from Galway and Donegal’s Kenny Crawford. Mentored by Portumna man Mike Denver, Aishling will perform with Mike and friends for one week of shows in Portugal later this year and she plans on spending the €5,000 prize money on releasing her first Album. A young star in the making. Well done Aishling.

Sympathy: A club stalwart passed away last week with the untimely death of Margaret Gleeson. She and the late Mary Lane were on the first finance and development committee and helped run the club finances for nigh on twenty years. She was also active in the social club and was a welcoming hostess on many a Friday night.
It was the Tipperary Draw that Margaret was synonymous with. She was the perfect salesperson with her infectious pleasant personality. She was our chief promoter since its inception. Sincere sympathy to Margaret and the Gleeson family. She will be greatly missed by all club members and supporters of our club and was afforded a guard of honour at her funeral on Monday morning. May she rest in peace.
