Well Done.

Congratulations to Brian Hogan and the Tipperary Senior squad on their opening round win over Laois by four points last week-end. We also congratulate Clodagh McIntyre and the Tipperary senior camogie squad on their victory over Down also last week-end.  We wish Brian and ‘Bonner’ all the best in their next outing v Kilkenny on February 13th in Semple Stadium.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the Oakley family Ballywilliam, Shinrone on the death of Stephen which occurred on Saturday 29th January. His brother John was a very popular member of our parish community while he resided here almost twenty years ago, so we send our sympathies especially to him and his mum Anne who was a regular visitor to our parish. After funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Shinrone on Friday last Feb. 4th. burial took place in Kilcommon Cemetery. May he rest in Peace.

Annual Auction.

Lorrha Development and Tidy Town annual auction takes place on Feb 20th at 2.00 pm in Lorrha Community Hall – timber animal feed and stalls galore. There is also fun for the children with a wet sponge challenge.

Ploughing Goes Ahead.

Preparations are well underway for the North Tipperary ploughing championships that will take place on Sunday 6th March on lands in Belleen, Nenagh (off Portroe road roundabout). A meeting will take place on Wednesday night February 9th at 8.30pm in the Yanks Borrisokane. All members are requested to return the 2020 ticket stubs and matching funds on the night as the draw will take place before the meeting commences. All outstanding membership will also be collected on the night.

75th Anniversary.

The Principal of Rathcabbin N.S. Mr. Conor Darcy, has issued an open invitation to anyone who has a interest or links to the school and it’s past, to attend a meeting in the School on Wednesday February 16th at 8.15pm. The purpose of the meeting is to organize the 75th anniversary celebrations of the school. All former pupils, parents, BOM members, children and grandchildren of past pupils from earlier decades will be more that welcome to attend. Volunteers Required.

The charity organisation A.L.O.N.E. (A Little Offering Never Ends) are asking people to volunteer a little time to spend with an older person in your area, for companionship. Full training and support will be provided. If interested please contact karen.byrne@alone.ie or by phone on (086) 0576401.

Church News.

The Killaloe Diocesan Pilgrimage Committee have organised a Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes live from the Cathedral in Ennis , starting Thurs 3rd & concluding on Friday 11th  Feb , Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes & World Day of Prayer for the Sick. Each evening this coming week at 7.30pm on www.ennisparish.com

It is hoped to have two pilgrimages to Lourdes from Shannon Airport on 28th June and 2nd October. The pilgrimages this year will not be able to accommodate sick or assisted pilgrims given the continued presence of the Covid 19   in accordance with best practice. More details later.

Feast of our Lady of Lourdes is Friday 11th Feb. It is also World Day of Prayer for the Sick.

Mass Times: Monday Mornings at 9.30am in Lorrha Church (except Bank Holidays). Every Saturday evening at 6.30pm in Lorrha Church. Every Sunday morning at 11.30am in Rathcabbin Church. Borrisokane 7pm Saturday. Kilbarron: 8pm Saturday.  Terryglass: 9.30am Sunday. Borrisokane 10.30am Sunday. Please wear face masks in the Church.

Pilgrimage to San Giovanni.

A fully escorted pilgrimage with a Spiritual Director will take place to San Giovanni in Italy to include a visit to the Shrine of St. Philomena in Mugnano and a walking tour of Pietrrlcina, birthplace of St. Padre Pio, from the 18th to the 22nd of April 2022. GAA News.

Membership: Membership for 2022 is now due. All players must play before first training. Club membership rates for 2022 are as follows and are unchanged from last year. €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/College student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym membership); €20 – Juvenile (16 & under); €90 – Family (2 adults & 2 children, capped at €100 for three or more children) You can also pay online at clubforce.com.

Well done: To Brian Hogan and Clodagh McIntyre on their wins with Tipperary last weekend. It was a good start to the League for both Tipperary teams. Best of luck to Brian, Clodagh and Bonner next weekend.
