Lorrha Notes

Volunteers on a recent work evening in Lorrha Village.

Upcycle Challenge.

Tipperary County Council are promoting the MyWaste.ie whereby the public are challenged to  unearth the imagination within you and create something new out of something old…to breathe new life into an old or unwanted item or material. So if you can find something old and renovate it or turn it into something completely different but still usable, then MyWaste.ie want to see it! When entering, please remember that we need to see the journey you’ve taken, be sure to submit some pictures of the before, during and after the transformation, make sure to let us know why you did what you did and we want to know what was your inspiration. The closing date for entries is 15th October so get working and let that imagination go free.  First you must register your entry and to do that just go to MyWaste.ie.

Workshop Reminder.

October is Reuse month and Tipperary County Council is organising a free online workshop that will deal with reducing food waste. Every household in Ireland is responsible for 117kgs of food waste per year. That’s between €400 and €1,000 per household per year thrown into the bin. With that in mind, the council is inviting Tipperary people to attend this workshop which takes place on October 6th at 10am. This session will cover everything from meal planning, recipe swaps to preserving and growing your own. It will also look at food storage, what best before dates to ignore and jazzing up leftovers for a tasty packed lunch. From composting to preserving, it’s all covered in the 2 hour session. This event is sponsored by Tipperary County Council for the residents of County Tipperary. You can register for the workshop via the Tipperary County Council website. https://www.tipperarycoco.ie/
