GAA Fundraiser.

Lorrha GAA club under the new chairmanship of Joe Dolan, are holding a major fundraiser for 2020.  It’s a Euro Lotto fundraiser for a chance to win your share in the Euro Millions. Tickets are only €20 for a yearly ticket, and the committee appeal to everyone to support this event if you can.

North Tipp Ploughing.

A special vote of sympathy and a minutes silence was observed before the last meeting of the North Tipp Ploughing committee, for John Slattery who passed away over Christmas. John was a real ambassador for North Tipp Ploughing and will be sorely and sadly missed.
Preparations for the forthcoming ploughing championships will be further discussed at a meeting on Wednesday night 5th Feb. at 8.30pm in the Yanks Borrisokane. Raffle tickets will be distributed and membership can be paid at the meeting.

Pilgrimages.

Bishop Fintan Monahan will lead a 7-night pilgrimage to Medjugorje from July 22nd-29th, 2020 with direct flights from Dublin to Mostar-Medjugorje Airport. Mass daily with full religious programme, sightseeing and visit to local sites of interest. Air-conditioned accommodation close to St James’ Church with breakfast and evening meals included. Lourdes 2020: The 64th Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from Friday 26th June to Wednesday 1st July; €725 full board with €20 discount for online booking to: joewalshtours.ie

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Frances Naylor and family Rathcabbin, on the death of her mother Bridget Flannery, Clareen, which occurred on Saturday February 1st.
Predeceased by her husband Joseph, she will be sadly missed by her loving family; Bridget, Kieran, Rose, Mary, Frances, Gerry and Geraldine, sons-in-law Joe, George, Willie and Eamon, daughters-in-law Mary and Lynda, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her sister Rosie Shine (Athlone), nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
After funeral Mass in St. Kieran’s Church Clareen on Tuesday February 4th. burial took place in Clonmacnoise Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Lorrha Camogie Club would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Mary Lane who passed away recently. Mary was a great advocate for the sport and gave countless hours of her time to the club over the years.

Many thanks to Brian Hogan and Bonner Maher for bringing the Liam MacCarthy and the James Nowlan Cup to our school last Friday. Both students and the adults enjoyed the experience and we look forward to their return at the end of the season, hopefully.

Voting in the General Election 2020 will take place, in Lorrha N.S. on Sat 8th February.

Rathcabbin N.S.

Celebration Dinner Dance.

Shannon Rovers camogie club will host a dinner dance on Saturday, February 22nd at 7pm, in the County Arms Hotel, Birr. Medals will be presented tothe Junior (now Intermediate) and the U18 team. Liam MacCarthy: Thanks to Brian Hogan and Bonner Maher for bringing the Liam MacCarthy and the James Nowlan Cup to all the schools in the parish and the nursing home. Former Lorrha hurler Declan Molloy brought the Lory Meagher Cup to Rathcabbin, having captained Leitrim to glory in Croke Park last summer. These men are great role models for our young players to look up to.
