Gratitude.

Many thanks to everyone who helped and supported the Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns in whatever way, at the Annual Christmas market and Auction on Sunday last. To all who donated items for the raffle and auction, those who attended and made purchases and to all who made the day so enjoyable, we appreciate your support. A special word of thanks to Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule to pay a visit and meet with the boys and girls. Apart from the Annual Calendar, this is the only fundraiser the Tidy Towns committee have in the year, which is so vital to keep the wheel turning.
The winners of the raffle were, Hamper – J.J. Maher, Biscuits – Louise Killeen, Bt. Wine – Adrian Boucher, cake – Michael O’Meara. Six people correctly guessed the weight of the cake and after all six names were put in a hat Sean Reid was the lucky name pulled out. Well done to all the prize winners.

Cois Deirge Pastoral Area:

The Pastoral Councils of our 3 parishes met with Bishop Fintan and the diocesan pastoral team recently. The following points were highlighted.

Necessity has fuelled cooperation between parishes with pastoral planning taking place with our two co- parish priests working well, with more give and take & a volunteering spirit.

A developing confidence in lay leadership in the community and in   leading liturgy was noted.

The decline in church attendance was broken down as a 1/3 attending, 1/3 somewhat interested and 1/3 with little interest in faith.

The challenge of the next Pastoral Plan 2021- 2031 is to tailor the response

to each pastoral area

The nurturing of faith with the young in a culture of competition with so many other choices is very challenging and it is the reality that we face today.
