Lorrha Notes
Aisling Smith of Rathcabbin Development Association with Sakie O’Brien with the pumpkin Sakie donated for a guess the weight competition which raised over €100 for flowers for the village. Mary Molloy guessed the nearest weight and was within 50g of the actual weight of the pumpkin which was 13,350g or 29 1/2 lbs. Thanks to Sakie for the pumpkin and to everyone who took part.
Christmas Market & Auction.
The Lorrha Development / Tidy Towns Annual Christmas Market and Auction will be held on the first Sunday in December which this year falls on Sunday 1st December in Lorrha Community Hall. Volunteers are required to help in the preparation and the running of the event.
Anyone wishing to donate items for the auction such as fuel, fodder etc. please call (086) 8493595. Anyone wishing to book a table for the market, please call (086) 8647166.
N.T.Ploughing AGM Results.
There was a great turn out at the North Tipp Ploughing AGM which was held in The Yanks, Borrisokane last week. Some officers were returned and also some new people stepped up to take on positions. Chairman Ray Clancy thanked all outgoing officers for their work to the committee and he welcomed the new people on board and wished them well. Those elected for the forthcoming year are President Eileen Duffy, Assistant President John Slattery. N.P.A. Director Joe Slattery, Chairman Ray Clancy, Vice Chairman Eamon Murphy, Secretary Denis Cahalan, Assistant Secretary Laura McKenna, Treasurer Andrew Wilson, Assistant Treasurer John Cahalan, PRO Rose Mannion.

Sympathy.
Sympathy is extended to Josie Dermody and family Rathcabbin on the death of her brother Eamon Dillon, Roscrea which occurred on Thursday Nov. 7th. After funeral Mass in St. Cronan’s Church Roscrea on Sunday last 10th burial took place in Camblin Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
Sharon’s Grave for Lorrha Stage.
Lorrha Variety Group present the John B. Keane play ‘Sharon’s Grave’ for three nights, on 22nd. 23rd and 24th November in Lorrha Community Hall. Directed by Phil Quigley, the doors open at 8.00pm and curtains up at 8.30pm. This year is booking only by phoning 087 1601946. Lines open 6pm to 9pm every evening. Adults €10, students €5.
Lorrha Camogie AGM
The camogie club AGM will take place Friday 15th November in the Clubhouse at 6.30 PM. The agenda will cover both our Juvenile and Adult teams, all interested in promoting camogie in the parish are welcome to attend.
A big “thank you” to all those who supported our recent Table Quiz, donated prizes and helped organise the successful event. Thanks also to our Quiz masters Aidan and Pauline McIntyre and to Kelly’s, Rathcabbin for providing the venue.
Climate Change Conference.
Banagher College are hosting a Climate change 2020 plus mini conference on 15th November from 7 to 9.00pm with guest speaker Duncan Stewart of Eco Eye. Also attending will be Alastair McKinstry Climate Scientist, An Taisce, Green Offaly, representatives from local industry and Green School students. Admission is free and all are welcome. Aglish Sociable Ladies invite you to a night of celebration following a tremendously successful fundraiser by the Sociable Ladies in aid of North Tipp Hospice and Suaimhneas. Fr Ray Kelly will perform in St Joseph’s Church in Moneygall on Sunday night December 1st. Concert commences at 7 pm and doors are open from 6 pm with unreserved seating. Tickets are €20 and we would love to have you join us for an evening of music, hymns and song.
