May he rest in peace.

Art Classes

Drawing for children (9 years up) on Wednesdays  6 – 7pm, starting on January 23rd for 8 weeks. Arts & Crafts for children (5 years up): Saturdays  3.30 – 4.30pm and 5 – 6pm, starting on Feb 2nd and on Mondays 5 -6pm, starting on Feb 4th in Bramble Art Studio Lorrha for 8 weeks. Church News.

Mass will be celebrated in Redwood Church on Saturday February 2nd  at 6.30pm and in Rathcabbin the following day at 11.30am. Mass in Lorrha Church on Mondays at 9.30a.m.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament  on Thursdays from 10.00am to 8.00pm. in  Rathcabbin  Church. Mass for the First Friday of the month February 1st  in Lorrha Church at 7.30p.m.

 Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Murt Corrigan and family Portland, Lorrha on the death of his sister  Kathleen Curley, Loughrea, who died on Wednesday January 16th. After funeral Mass in St. Brendan’s Cathedral, Loughrea on Sunday 20th burial took place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Loughrea. May they rest in peace.
Sympathy is also extended to the family of John Sherlock, Curraduff, Rathcabbin who died on Saturday January 26th.  John will be laid to rest to-day Wednesday 30th  in Clonoghill Cemetery, after funeral Mass in St. Brendan’s Church Birr at 11.00am. May he rest in peace.

Killaloe Diocese Lourdes  Pilgrimage 2019.

Crochet Workshop.

Would you like to learn the skills needed to create crochet blankets, throws, cushions, scarfs, hats even clothing? Over three two hour sessions you will do just that! Redwood Castle Lorrha  E45 HT 38 are organising the classes on Tuesdays 5th, 12th and 19th of February from 18.30 to 20.30 and on 7th, 14th and 21st  of February in the mornings from 11.00 to 13.00. Rathcabbin Hall Fundraising Raffle.

Rathcabbin Community Hall Ltd. are holding a raffle to raise funds to keep the hall open into the future.  Locals will be selling tickets (€5) over the coming weeks and the draw will take place on Sun 3rd Feb. in the hall. Raffle tickets can be bought in the hall after 11.30am Mass this coming Sunday 27th.

Recent Wedding.

Many congratulations are extended to Amanda Hogan Rathcabbin and Damien Watkins who were married on Friday last in Our Lady Queen of Ireland Church Rathcabbin. Afterwards the newly – weds joined their families and friends in Dooly’s Hotel where the celebrations continued for the week-end. Well done Amanda and Damien and the best of luck in the future.

De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the new collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village. Many thanks for your continued support.

Enrolment.

Redwood NS is currently accepting applications for enrolment of Junior Infant pupils for September 2019.

Application forms for enrolment are available from the school 8.30 am – 3.30 pm daily. If you would like to contact us, please call 090 9747186 or email redwoodns@live.ie. Visits to view the school, see the facilities and meet the teachers can also be arranged. Applications for enrolment will close at the end of February.

Table Quiz.

Tennis Club Table Quiz, Friday February 1st @ 8:30pm in The Boathouse, Portumna. Proceeds  going towards upgrading the club entrance.

GAA News

There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €9,300.

Auction: Thank you to all those who supported our annual Auction last Sunday. A cool but fine day attracted a good crowd with all lots sold. Thanks to all those that helped with the timber in recent weeks, particularly the players.

Under 21 Football: Lorrha Rovers Gaels have been draw away to Kilruane MacDonaghs in the quarter-finals of the North U21 ‘B’ Football Championship with the game to be played on Saturday 2nd February in Ballingarry at 6.30pm.

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: Thanks to all our subscribers and we ask all promoters are asked to bring their accounts up to date ahead of the February draw.

Membership: for 2019 is now due and is unchanged from last year. €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/College student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym membership); €20 – Juvenile (16 & under); €90 – Family (2 adults & 2 children, capped at €100 for three or more children).

All players on all adult and juvenile teams must be paid up prior to their first match of the season with the closing date for all membership is 31st March. Membership can be paid to registrar Louise Mannion or online at www.clubforce.com

Gaeltacht Scholarships: Application forms are now available for GAA Gaeltacht scholarships in 2019. The scholarships are to the value of €300 and are confined to 2nd Year, TY and 5th Year students. Previous recipients of Tipperary GAA Gaeltacht scholarships may not apply. Students should immediately book a course directly from one of the three nominated Munster Irish Colleges on the application form. Your completed application must also be signed by the club secretary before posting it to reach Lár na Páirce by the deadline of Friday, 8th February. Interviews for the scholarships will be held in Lár na Páirce later in February.
