Annual Christmas Market & Auction.

Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns Annual Christmas Market and Auction will take place this coming Sunday 2nd December from 1.00pm. Auction at 2.30pm and Santa arriving for his usual walk about at 3.00pm. Loads of stalls inside with all kinds of everything and auction of fuel, fodder, meal etc. outside. Something for everyone on the day. This is the group’s tenth year to run such an event and as it is the only main fundraiser in the year, the group depend on your generosity to survive. Please support.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the Dolan Family Rathcabbin on the death of Willie which occurred last week. May he rest in peace.

Grants Available.

Deep Retrofit grants are available for houses built before 2007. Names and details are now been compiled for the 2019 round of works in the parish. Anyone interested call Jackie Hogan on (087) 6319890.

North Tipperary Ploughing AGM.

North Tipperary Ploughing A.G.M. will take place on this Wednesday night 28th November in the Yanks, Borrisokane at 8.30pm.  All members are requested to attend new members are welcome.

Golfing AGM

R.A.G.S. golfing AGM will take place on Thursday night 29th November at 8.30pm in the Friar’s Tavern. All welcome.

Free Workshop.

Tipperary PPN in Collaboration with North Tipperary Leader partnership are delighted to offer members from the North of the County this free workshop ‘Making successful funding applications’ on Thursday 29th November in Templemore McAuley Centre from 7.00 to 9.30pm. Concert for Richie.

‘’Songs of Home and Family,’’ (originally scheduled for November 25th) will instead be presented in Rathcabbin Church on Sunday, December 2nd. Richard was well known for his musical talent and his wonderful singing voice and keyboard accompaniment which he generously shared with many people during his life, in parishes of North Tipperary and across the whole diocese of Killaloe and further afield.

Redwood NS Christmas Variety Show
The ever popular annual Christmas variety show performed by the children of Redwood NS will take place on Tuesday, 11th  December at 7pm in Redwood Church. The show will incorporate music, song, hip hop dancing choreographed by Dance It Out Ireland and of course ‘ The Nativity’  Admission is free, Raffle and refreshments in the school afterwards with hampers and great spot prizes to be won. A great night’s entertainment promised! Arrive early to guarantee your seat!!!

Local Link New Bus Service

Serving Lorrha to Birr on Fridays. This new service will also cover the following areas to Birr every Friday, Lorrha, Moatfield, Redwood, Rathcabbin, Killeen(Riverstown), Birr.

First pick up in Lorrha at 10am & drop off 11am. Departing Birr at 2pm (times are approximate). This is a demand responsive & door to door service which means passengers wishing to travel can register with us & book their trip. Short Film

A short film running for approx. 95 minutes on the Cormac Brothers will be shown in the Friar’s Tavern Lorrha on Saturday 1st December at 8.30pm. Tickets €8.00

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the new collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village. Portumna Credit Union offices will be closed for renovations from Tuesday 4th December to Thursday 6th December.  Grand opening on Friday 7th December with business as usual.  Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Farming Seminar.

Ifac, the farming, food and agribusiness professional services firm is hosting a farming seminar in conjunction with The Irish Farmers Association and The Farmers Journal in The Horse and Jockey Hotel, Thurles on Tuesday 4th December, at 8pm
The theme of the seminar is ‘2019 and Beyond’ and will be chaired by ifac National Chairman Sean Clarke.
Speakers from ifac will discuss essential tax tips for 2019 and PAYE Modernisation. They will also cover financial planning which will look at building your nest egg and protecting your financial future. The IFA will give a comprehensive update on CAP reform, farm schemes, preventing rural crime and association structure while the Farmers Journal will give their predictions on farming in the future, challenges and opportunities.

Speaking about the event, Billy Holland, Partner at the Ifac Tipperary Office said, “At ifac, we have been providing financial advice to farming families for over 40 years.  We know exactly how difficult 2018 has been for them because we are working with farmers every day, providing sound advice and guiding financial decision making. The purpose of this seminar is to look at issues facing farmers throughout 2019 and offer solutions or help where possible. The topics discussed will be diverse and relevant and we’re looking forward to the evening.”

GAA News

Cumann na mBunscol: Commiserations to Rathcabbin NS who were defeated by Dualla NS in the County Cumann na mBunscoil Football final at Semple Stadium last Wednesday. What a great experience for the players to play in the Field of Legends.

Senior AGM: The Annual General Meeting has been fixed for Tuesday 18th December in the GAA Centre at 7.45pm. Anyone with any outstanding financial issues should contact treasurer Graham Houlihan and assistant Declan O’Meara asap before the books are compiled. Any nominations or motions can be forwarded to secretary Michael Kennedy.

Juvenile AGM: has been rescheduled to Thursday 6th December at 7.30pm in the GAA Centre. Anyone interested in getting involved with helping juvenile teams in 2019 are asked to contact Tommy Kennedy 0879191689.

Christmas Party: The Club will be hosting a Christmas Party fundraiser in the GAA Centre on Thursday 27th December, with music by Tradstone and DJ Sean O’Meara. Tickets €20, with part of the funds going to Seamus Hennessy’s Running for Josie project supporting Pieta House and Tipperary Living Links. A great night is promised and the ideal event for those home for the Christmas period.

Auction: Our annual Auction has been fixed for Sunday 27th January 2019.
