Harvest Thanksgiving.

Lorrha Church of Ireland’s Harvest Thanksgiving Service will take place on Sunday next the 14th October @ 8.00 pm. This year, in conjunction with our service, we will be marking the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the “RMS Leinster” and we will be commemorating the life of Ms Ella de Burgh Dwyer, of Ballyquirke, Lorrha, who tragically lost her life in the sinking, and is buried in the adjoining graveyard. All are welcome.

Responder Fundraiser.

A Church gate collection will be held on the week-end of 20th / 21st October in aid of Rathcabbin first responders group. There will also be a coffee morning after 11.30am Mass in Rathcabbin  on the 21st in Kellys. Please support.

News from Lorrha School.

Well done to the pupils in Lorrha NS who competed in the school’s cross country athletics last week. Many Congratulations to Emma and Conor Kennedy who took home medals. Emma collect bronze while Conor took silver. Well done.
Many thanks to all who attended the School Mass recently. It was a lovely occasion and we extend thanks to celebrant Fr. Cooney.
We participated in the Primary school football blitz in Nenagh recently. Unfortunately, winning one game and losing one, saw us out of the competition but well done to the students who gave it their all for the school.

NOTE:  During month of October we will pray the  Rosary before Masses in the parish. (Vigil and Sunday).

St. Pio Mass.

St. Padre Pio Mass will be celebrated in St Brendan’s Church Birr on Thursday 18th October, commencing with Rosary at 7pm and Mass at 7.30 pm.  All welcome

Lorrha Camogie Girls in Co. Final

Congratulations to the Lorrha Junior ‘B’ team who have reached the County Final after a 4.12 to 3.7 win over Brian Boru’s in the semi final last Sunday. They now go on to play Knockavilla in the final on Sunday coming the 14th at 12 noon in the county camogie pitch and we wish both players and management the best of luck. Shannon Rovers take on Toomevara in the Junior ‘A’ at 2.30 and they are wished the best of luck here.

Starting your own Business course commencing in Birr on Wednesday, 7 November. Running over 6 consecutive Wednesday evenings until 12 December from 7 – 10 pm. De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the new collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village. Date for your Diary.

A fundraising concert will be held in St. Brendan’s Church, Birr on Thursday 6th December with Michael English. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be divided between five different charities, St. Brendan’s Church, Birr Responders, Billy Goulding, Birr Mental Health, Offaly & Westmeath Hospice. Tickets are priced at €25.00 each and are available from Ann Delahunt Smyth on (087) 9625218.

Lough Boors Training.

Lough Boora running, training, every Sunday morning at 9.15am sharp in Lough Boora Discovery Park. All walkers, joggers runners are welcome so do come and join us.
