Commiserations to Brian Hogan, Patrick “Bonner” Maher, Eoin McIntyre and John Madden and the Tipp senior hurlers who are now out of the Championship after losing to Clare on Sunday last.

                                                  

Urgent Appeal Continues.

Lorrha Tidy Towns are appealing for help with clean up around the village, approach roads and areas. Some painting, weeding, planting flowers, and watering what is already there, needs to be done urgently. Adjudication took place on June 12th last year so can happen any day and an appeal for anyone who can spare some time, to please let us know on  (086) 8493595 / (087) 2601413 or (086) 8647166. People are giving time already when it suits them to do so, and many thanks to those people, but lots more help is badly needed urgently.

Oxmantown Singers Birr

A past student of Deirdre Hanniffy of the Oxmantown singers and Lorrha man Pascal Kennedy is wished every success as he steps into the role of director of the group for the 2018/2019 season. Many good wishes is extended to Deirdre  on her retirement from the Oxmantown Singers after 27 years. She is thanked for her dedication and contribution to the lives of young people and music all around the Midlands. Killaloe Diocese pilgrimage to Lourdes: Bishop Fintan Monahan will lead the 62nd Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes from Shannon Airport on Tuesday 26th June, returning on Sunday 1st July. €695 full board for online booking at www.joewalshtours.ie   or €705 for paper booking.  Special section for sick or assisted pilgrims at a reduced price. Pope Francis coming to World Meeting of Families – be part of this great and exciting event by registering  or volunteering at www.worldmeeting2018.ie  All family members under 18 are free.  Access to all events is by registration and ticket.

Rathcabbin Parent’s Association

The Parents Association of Rathcabbin school are holding a 5km walk/cycle and a tractor / vintage car run on Sunday 17th June 2018 in order to raise funds for the National School. There is also a bake sale in the school on the day which showcases all the parents baking talents!!! The walk/cycle / tractor/vintage car run will commence after mass at approximately 12.30pm. Registration for the tractors/cars will take place at 11am before Mass from the  school and they  would love to have the support of as many of the tractor/car enthusiasts and farming families/friends on the day from the parish and beyond, on the day. The cost per tractor/car is €20 and all proceeds go towards the National School. Birthday Greetings.

The management, staff and fellow patients of St. Kieran’s Care Home, Rathcabbin extend birthday greetings to Margaret, Cora and Billy who celebrated their birthday’s with family members and staff of St.Kieran’s recently. Proprietor of St. Kieran’s William O’Sullivan wishes to extend thanks to the staff for the recent ‘glowing’ H.I.Q.A. (Health Information & Quality Authority) report which St. Kieran’s Care Home received last week. Well done to all.

Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village. GAA News

Senior: Lorrha’s next game in the County League is away to Kilruane MacDonaghs this evening, Wednesday 13th June in Cloughjordan at 8.00pm where they need a win to stay in the hunt for the semi-finals and promotion.

Junior: Lorrha were back in action again last evening (Tuesday) when they took on Silvermines in round 2 of the championship and suffered a disappointing 2-19 to 0-10 defeat. In round 3, Lorrha host Nenagh Eire Og on weekend of 23 June, needing a win to stay in the hunt.

Minor: Lorrha Rovers Gaels return to championship action on either 21st or 28th June against Toomevara.

Under 14: The North Under 14 ‘B’ Hurling Championship gets underway against Newport in Moatfield on Thursday 14th June at 7.00pm. On Tuesday 19th June, they play Kiladangan in Puckane at 6.30pm

Under 12: The ‘A’ hurlers took on Borris-Ileigh on Bank Holiday Monday last and were defeated 3-10 to 0-6. The ‘A’ teams game against Toomevara last Monday didn’t take place and has been rescheduled for Monday 25th June. Next Friday, 15th June, the ‘A’ team are away to Ballina at 7.30pm.

Tipperary: Hard luck to Patrick Maher, Brian Hogan, Eoin McIntyre, John Madden and the Tipperary senior hurling team whose championship campaign has come to an end following the loss to Clare last Sunday.

Primary Game: Well done to Celine Guinan from Rathcabbin NS who lined out in the Tipperary camogie team in the Primary Game at half time of the Munster Championship game between Tipperary and Clare last Sunday. The previous day she helped Shannon Rovers under 14’s win the Regional Feile tournament held in Kilkenny.

Cul Camp: This years Kellogg’s Cul Camp in Lorrha takes place from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th July. Registration only online at www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie. Cost is €60 for 1st child; €50 for 2nd child; €40 for 3rd and subsequent children.

Lotto: The jackpot is €4,500 with a Match 3 pot of €100. You can play online at www.locallotto.ie. The Club wishes to advise that the numbers chosen from in the draw have risen from 30 to 32. Newly designed tickets are now in circulation with all our promoters; all old tickets are now invalid and can be disposed of.
