The North Tipperary Ploughing  championships will take place on Saturday coming March 24th  in Rathnaleen, Nenagh by kind permission. The site is close to the meat factory and will be signposted on all roads leading into Nenagh. The event kicks off at12.30pm.sharp as weather conditions are forecast to be more spring like. Side attractions will include a free bouncy castle for the children, shop, tea and refreshments in the tent by the ladies committee and much more besides. Please do support.

Summer Time Begins.

Summer-time begins officially (even if it doesn’t seem like it) on Sunday next 25th March when clocks go forward one hour. Mark it in your diary and don’t forget to change the clock.

Lorrha Camogie.

Lorrha Junior team are defending League Champions for the past two years running and are a small but very hard working group. We would ideally like to get two or three people involved to help out with training, match days, team sheets etc without putting undue pressure on any particular person. If anyone has any ideas or would like to help out please get in contact with our Chairperson Bernie Cleary or any member of the camogie panel or through our facebook page. Your support for our club is greatly appreciated.

Lorrha National School are enrolling for September 2018. Enrolment forms can be downloaded from the school website www.lorrhans.ie. You can also call to the school and collect a form, or give us a call on (090) 9747295 and we will pop one in the post to you. Church News.

Stations of the Cross each Friday during Lent at 7.00pm in Our Lady Queen of Ireland Church Rathcabbin followed by Mass at 7.30pm.

Lenten Station Mass for people of the Parish on Friday, 23rd March  at 7.30p.m.  in Rathcabbin Church. Stations of the Cross at  7.00p.m. Please note that the Station Mass  is  for  all  three  areas  –  Lorrha, Rathcabbin and Redwood.
Sacrament of Reconciliation for the parishes of Borrisokane / Lorrha and Terryglass in Borrisokane Church on Monday 26th March at 8:00pm. There will also be an opportunity in  Rathcabbin Church on Holy Thursday at 7:00pm.
Summer-time begins next Sunday, 25th March. Mass will be celebrated in Redwood Church – Vigil Mass, at 8.00p.m. –  commencing  Saturday, 7th April while in Lorrha and Rathcabbin they remain the same at 10am and 11.30a.m.on Sunday’s respectively.

Free Concert.

A Free Family Concert on Easter Monday (2nd April) will take place  in Our Lady Queen of Ireland  Church, Rathcabbin, featuring Rory Cunningham’s one-man band (c/ w, Gospel, Irish), 8:00pm – 10:pm.  All welcome. W.M.F. 2018.

St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association.

The date for our AGM has been agreed for Wednesday, 28th March, 2018, to take place in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall, Lorrha, at 2.30pm.  We would like to see all our members at this meeting so that we can plan our activities for the coming year.

Tracing Relations Reminder.

Annwyn Lewis is coming to Ireland over Easter and she is trying to trace her Tipperary ancestors. They were William Kennedy and Mary Carroll.  They were born around 1817 and married in Borrisokane in 1843.  Mary Carroll was listed as being from Lorrah and Dorrah parish. They had two children Dennis and Mary before moving to Wales by 1851. Annwyn would love to find out more about them if anyone could help. In case you have been DNA tested her kit number on Ancestry is A791083. She will be over at Easter time and would love to meet someone who might be able to help her with tracing her relatives. De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the new collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village. For Better, For Worse.

Portumna Players Drama Group will stage Jimmy Keary’s play, For Better, For Worse, a comedy in three acts. Commencing this Thursday night 22, Friday 23 & Sunday 25 March. There will also be a performance on Good Friday 30 March. The doors open at 7.30. Curtain up at 8pm. Location, Town Hall, Clonfert Ave.

Short Synopsis of the Play.
Farmer Gabriel Foley is newly married. His wife, Chrissie is stressed and unhappy, as things are not going well for the couple in and out of the bedroom. Matters aren’t helped by the caustic comments of Gabriel’s mother, Aggie, who is living with them, and by the arrival of glamorous Miriam Maguire, the upmarket daughter of an old friend of Aggie’s.
Then Gabriel invites his widowed Aunt Lucy to stay for a few days.
