Patrick “Bonner” Maher and Brian Hogan were the special guests who presented the Lorrha U11 and U12 with their medals on Saturday night last in the clubhouse. 

John Madden was the special guest who presented the U21 and Junior teams with their medals on Saturday night last in the clubhouse. Pictured here with John is club chairman William Harding and Hubert Duggan. 

Congratulations and many good wishes is extended to Willie Dolan, Lissernane and St. Kieran’s Care Home Rathcabbin, on the occasion of his 96th birthday. The management and staff of St. Kieran’s threw a party for Willie which was attended by his family. Well done Willie and you are wished many more to come.

The Garda Crime Prevention Officer is advising the public to remember to check their front and back doors at night before going to bed to ensure they are locked and secured switch on alarm. Remember to make sure car keys are kept away from letter box and not in coat pockets hanging at front doors. Secure them away from front doors, maybe in kitchen drawer or upstairs.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the Corrigan and White families Portland on the death of Julia Leahy (nee Corrigan) Tynagh which occurred on Sunday February 4th suddenly. Predeceased by her husband Michael and sister Eileen. Survived by her sons Seamus and Michael, daughter Kathleen, daughter-in-law Mary, son-in-law Michael. Grandmother of Colin, Adrian, Emma, Michaerl and Martin. Loving sister of Kathleen, Christine, Nance and Murt, sister-in-law, brother-in -law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. After funeral Mass in St. Laurence’s Church, Tynagh, on Thursday 8th  burial took place in Tynagh Cemetery. May she rest in peace.
Sympathy is extended to Liam King and family Ballymacegan and Seamus and family Cashel on the death of their sister Marjorie Hamill, Ballinasloe which occurred on Sunday February 4th. after a short illness. Wife of the late David and devoted loving mother of Andrew and Jane. Deeply regretted by her loving sister Maura Reynolds (Mountrath) and brothers Seamus and Liam, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. After funeral Mass on Wednesday 7th in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Creagh burial took place in Creagh Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Late Michael Flynn.

The peaceful death took place of Michael (Micky) Flynn, Redwood, Lorrha and formerly of Woolwich, London.  He is survived by his wife Lynne, sons Daniel and Sean, brother Patrick, sister Margaret, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours to whom sympathy is extended. After funeral Mass on Thursday Feb. 8th in Our Lady Queen of Ireland Church, Rathcabbin, burial took place in Bonoham Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Late Moira O’Meara.

The death occurred on Sunday February 11th of Moira O’Meara (Nee Bennett Fivealley) Lisballyard, Rathcabbin.  Predeceased by her husband Edward she is survived by her daughters Breda (Borrisokane), Ellen (Eyrecourt) son Michael (Rathcabbin), son-in-law Barry, daughter-in-law Caroline, grandchildren, her sisters Nancy & May, neices, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends to whom sympathy is offered.
After funeral Mass in St. Ruadhan’s Church Lorrha on Tuesday morning the 13th  burial took place in the adjoining graveyard. May she rest in peace.

News from Lorrha School.

We extend congratulations to Liam and Rebecca and to all the pupils in the parish, who were confirmed by Bishop Fintan Monahan when he administered the Sacrament of Confirmation in St. Ruadhan’s Church recently. We thank Bishop Fintan and Fr. Pat for all their assistance. Also thanks to the parish pastoral council for providing refreshments in the school afterwards and to all who helped out in whatever way to make the occasion an memorable one for the children and their families.

First and second class pupils attended an indoor hurling blitz on Thursday Feb 8th in Cloughjordan GAA Centre.  All enjoyed the day and our thanks to the organizers.

The Sacraments of Reconciliation/Communion for Life, for 2nd class pupils will take place in Redwood Church on Thursday March 8th at 7.00p.m.

We will be holding an open day on March 14th. from 1.00pm and all are invited to attend. Anyone wishing to speak with teachers outside of this time, please call the school or drop us an email (see above) to arrange an appointment.

Tracing Relations.

Loretta Harper is tracing her Quirke and Bourke Relations. Patrick Quirke married Catherine Bourke on Feb 2nd 1831. Their children Thomas born 1839 and Anne born 1848 were baptised in Lorrha & Dorrha, so it could have been in either end of the parish. Anyone who thinks they might be able to shed some light on this can leave a message on (086) 8647166 please or email info@54.171.167.182

Congratulations is extended to Elaine Hogan and Trevor Hogan who were part of the Tipperary Badminton team who won the Munster Final grade G on Sunday last in Limerick.The team beat Clare and Waterford before progressing to beat a strong Kerry side in the final. They now go on to the All Ireland final which will be held in April. Well done Elaine and Trevor and all the best in the All-Ireland final.

Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village.
