Two Last Nights.

Rathcabbin Players have enjoyed a wonderful four night run last week-end and are back for a further two nights with a two act comedy ‘Nobody’s Talking to Me’ on Saturday night February 3rd and Sunday night February 4th. Doors open at 8.00p.m. Curtains up at 8.30p.m. sharp. Admission, adults €10, children €5. To book your seat call Mary on (087) 236 0096 between 6.00 and 8.30pm daily. News from Lorrha School.

We welcome Bishop Fintan Monahan who will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation in St. Ruadhan’s Church, Lorrha on Saturday February 3rd at 3.00pm to the pupils of the parish.  All are invited to come and join with us on this special occasion.
Congratulations is extended to former pupil George Harding who received the Male Student of the Year award at a special awards ceremony in Portumna Community School recently. George achieved outstanding results in his Leaving Cert in 2017 and is now pursuing Actuarial Studies in UCD from where he was awarded an Entrance Scholarship.  During his time in Portumna Community School he was also chairperson of the Students Council, a role in which he also excelled and was responsible for delivering a number of very successful projects. Well done George from all in Lorrha N.S. where it all began.
Many thanks to all who donated their used batteries throughout 2017, to our school collection efforts for the Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice.
We continue to collect used batteries for the Laura Lynn foundation, Ireland’s only Children’s Hospice.  By leaving your old used batteries into us, people are not just helping the Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice, but they are also promoting environmental friendliness and reducing our Carbon footprint.
We welcome Nicole Fowley, who has an Irish International background in sport, to the school as rugby coach. Nicole will be coaching rugby in the school each Wednesday.

Happy Birthday.

Congratulations and many good wishes is extended to Willie Dolan, Lissernane and St. Kieran’s Care Home Rathcabbin, on the occasion of his 96th birthday. The management and staff of St. Kieran’s threw a party for Willie which was attended by family last week-end. Well done Willie and you are wished many more to come.

Church News.

On Thursday, 1st February Mass in Rathcabbin Church at 7.30p.m.Ceremony of light will take place during this Mass. Also  you are invited to donate packs of candles (Beeswax). These will be blessed at the Mass on St. Brigid’s Day, February 1st. Candles for use in your homes will also be blessed.
Mass in Lorrha Church at 7.30p.m.on first Friday of the month Feb. 2nd.  On Saturday 3rd February at 3.00p.m.  in Lorrha Church, Bishop Fintan Monahan will administer the Sacrament of  Confirmation to twelve candidates from this parish. All are welcome to attend. Please note there will be no Mass in Redwood Church on Saturday, 3rd February.
Blessing of throats will take place after all Masses on Sunday, 4th February for the Feast of St. Blaise which is Saturday, 3rd February.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Mary and Sean Lane, Rathcabbin on the death of Mary’s uncle Jack Ryan, Crinkill last week. After funeral Mass in St. Brendan’s Church Birr, burial took place in Clonoghill Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
Sympathy is extended to the Liffey families on the death of their cousin Stephen Liffey, Cloughjordan. After funeral Mass on Monday last in St. Patrick’s Church, The Pike, burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.

De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the new collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village.
