Blowing out the candles on the occasion of his 100th birthday is Michael O’Meara Lorrha on Monday night last at a function in Lorrha GAA clubhouse to mark the occasion. Known to all far and wide as “Mick of The Hill” he received his letter and Cheque for €2,540 early last week from President Higgins and there was many more presentations made to him on Monday night, but most of all he loved meeting and chatting to everyone.  Well done Mick and may you continue for many years to come.

Congratulations and many good wishes is extended to Michael O’Meara Lorrha on the occasion of his 100th birthday last week-end. Known far and wide as Mick of the Hill because of so many O’Meara families in the parish, he celebrated the occasion with his family on his actual date of birth August 5th while a community celebration was held for him in the GAA clubhouse on Monday night last. Hail and hearty with a razor sharp mind, Mick can recall many happenings both in the parish and in the world down through the years. We wish him many more years of continued good health and an inspiration to all who know him. Well done Mick.

Commiserations.

Commiserations to Patrick “Bonner” Maher, Brian Hogan and selector John Madden and the Tipperary team on their one point misery loss to Galway on Sunday last in the All Ireland SHC semi final. Hard luck lads.

North Tipp Ploughing.

North Tipperary Ploughing committee wish to extend congratulations to founder member Mick O’Meara on the occasion of his 100th birthday last week-end. A constant figure at the ploughing championships for many years, he served as a judge at club level and also supervised at the All-Ireland championships for many years. Well done Mick on reaching this milestone.

Redwood NS Tennis Camp:

Tennis Camp will run in Redwood NS from Monday 14th to Wednesday 16th August with tennis coach Anne Marie Darcy. The camp is from 10am to 12 noon each day and is 25euro per child with family discounts. Suitable for boys and girls from 5-12 years old, all levels of ability catered for. Congratulations to Founder Member.

Rathcabbin Players wish to extend many congratulations to founder member Mick O’Meara on the occasion of his 100th birthday last week-end. A presentation was made to Mick on behalf of the group during a function to mark the occasion in the GAA clubhouse on Monday night last. Mick attended a dress rehearsal of our play earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. We hope to see him back again for our next dress rehearsal come January. Well done Mick.

Killaloe Autumn Pilgrimaage to Lourdes:

The Autumn pilgrimage from Killaloe Diocese to Lourdes will leave Shannon airport on Sunday 1st October , returning on Friday 6th October. Lorrha Community Responders Group.

A big thank you to Mark and Donna Mannion of The Friars Tavern for holding the fundraising for our group and also for all their support and use of their facilities for meetings and training. We raised just over €2,300 from selling lines in order to purchase a couple of defibrillators. Thank you to everyone who purchased lines and also gave private donation.  Also thanks to the people who helped sell lines and the people and businesses who so kindly donated prizes.

Open Air Mass & Historical Drama.

On Saturday, 19th August 2017, there will be an open air Mass celebrated in Redwood Castle followed by the O’Sullivan Beara Re-enactment.  Mass to commence at 8pm.  The management of Redwood Castle request that participants be in the Castle grounds by 7.45pm.

Reminder.

This year Milford Hospice Annual Harvest Fair celebrates its  32nd anniversary and is scheduled for Sunday 27th August at the University of Limerick. Autumn De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the Autumn collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep one adult employed.
