Congratulations is extended to Fr. Michael Kennedy Rathcabbin on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood. A special con-celebrated Mass to mark the occasion was held in Lusmagh Church where Fr. Michael is Parish Priest. He then con-celebrated Mass in his native Rathcabbin Church on Saturday night last. Well done Fr. Michael and we wish you well and continued good health in the years ahead

 Well done to the Lorrha Junior hurlers who came from behind to force a replay in a thrilling North Tipp Junior ‘B’ Hurling League final against Roscrea in Nenagh on Sunday last finishing on  3-23 each, after extra time. The replay is likely to take place in two weeks time and we wish the lads and their management the best of luck

40th Anniversary.

Michael then concelebrated Mass in his native Rathcabbin Church on Saturday night last. Well done Fr. Michael and we wish you well and continued good health in the years ahead.

Ploughing Meeting.

All members of North Tipp Ploughing are requested to attend a meeting in The Yanks, Borrisokane on Wednesday night July 5th at 9.30pm.

A Rathcabbin School Reunion will be held in Kelly’s on Saturday 15th July from 8.30 pm. Music by PJ, Sean and Trevor Hogan and special guests. All welcome for a trip down memory lane.

Church News.

First Friday Mass in Rathcabbin Church on Friday 7th July with confessions beforehand.  Vigil Mass in Redwood Church is on Saturday 8th July at 8.00p.m. Sunday 9th in Lorrha at 10.00am. and Rathcabbin at 11.30am.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday from 10.00am to 8.00pm in  Rathcabbin  Church. We invite all parishioners to come and stay a while in the presence of Jesus.

Congratulations is extended to Leanne Sullivan, Redwood who came 10th  in the “Priomh Comortas” u/10 category at the Irish Dancing Nationals. The event took place recently in the City West Hotel Dublin. Her dance teacher Stephanie Power was very pleased with this result as it was the first time that Leanne competed in the National event. Well done Leanne.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Pat Morris and family, Rathcabbin on the sudden death of his brother Joe  Delgany, Co. Wicklow and formerly Carrickmines, Dublin  on Sunday June 25th. After funeral Mass in St. Anthony’s Church Kilcoole on Friday 30th burial took place in Kilquade Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
Sympathy is also extended to Eddie Dolan and family, Clonmona, on the death of his brother Tom, Lusmagh, which occurred last week. Burial took place in Lusmagh on Thursday last June 29th. May he rest in peace.

Lorrha Camogie Fundraiser:

Lorrha Camogie Club are holding a fundraising table quiz and draw on Friday 21st July in the Friars Tavern Lorrha. €2 lines are on sale now from all players with fantastic prizes such as; a signed Tipperary Hurling Jersey, a signed Tipperary Football Jersey,  a meal voucher for The Ferry Inn plus various other prizes. All support goes towards the running of the club and is greatly appreciated, so please support the girls and get your quiz team ready for Friday 21st!!

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the summer collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and maths including bath toilet and shower math’s, soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep one adult employed. Lorrha v Roscrea Junior “B” Replay

Well done to Lorrha Junior “B” team who drew 3.23 apiece when they met Roscrea in the North Final on Sunday last in Nenagh. We wish the lads well in the re-play.

GAA News.

Senior: Lorrha’s next game is the final round of the County League at home to Holycross/Ballycahill on weekend 15-16 July where we need a win to make the semi-finals.The final round game of the County Championship against Knockavilla Kickhams is dependent on Tipperary’s progress through the qualifiers.

Junior: Well done to the Junior hurlers who came from behind to force a replay in a thrilling North Tipp Junior ‘B’ Hurling League final against Roscrea in Nenagh on Sunday, which finished 3-23 each, after extra time. The replay is likely to take place in two weeks time. In the meantime, we could be playing the first round of the championship next weekend, check fixtures for details.

Minor: Lorrha Rovers defeated Silvermines 4-16 to 0-3 in the Minor ‘B’ Football Championship in Moatfield last Friday. They now play Kilruane MacDonaghs in the semi-final in Borrisokane this Thursday, 6th July at 7.30pm. The Hurling Championship will resume on Thursday 13th July with Lorrha Rovers at home to Kiladangan in Ballinderry at 7.30pm.

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers game away to Borrisokane on Monday evening did not go ahead and has been rescheuled. Next Monday, they play Burgess in Ballinderry at 7.15pm

Under 14: Lorrha Rovers Gaels travelled to Cloughjordan to play Kilruane MacDonaghs last Wednesday and recorded a 1-7 to 1-6 win. This Wednesday, 5th July, they play Borrisokane in Ballinderry at 7pm. Next Wednesday, 12th July they play Ballina in Ballina at 7pm

Under 12: The U12 hurlers played Kiladangan in Puckane last Friday evening and recorded a 4-14 to 2-4 win. The result sees Lorrha finish second in the table and are through to the semi-final against Kilruane MacDonaghs on Friday 21st July.

Tipperary: Best of luck to Patrick Maher, Brian Hogan, John Madden and the Tipperary Senior hurlers in the All Ireland qualifier against Dublin this Saturday; also to the senior footballers in their clash with Cavan.

Best of luck to Kevin Cahalan who has been selected on the Tipperary under 16 football panel for the annual Humphrey Kelleher tournament in Waterford next Saturday.

Cul Camp: Lorrha Kellogg’s Cul Camp takes place in Moatfield from Monday 24th to Friday 28th July from 10am to 2.30pm each day. Camp is open for 6-13 year olds, to register, go to www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie and find the Lorrha camp in the Tipperary listing. The camp costs €60 for one child, €50 for a second and €40 for a third or more children and they will be provided with full camp kit.

Tipperary GAA Draw: The club had now winner in the June draw which took place last Friday night. Thanks for your continued support.

Drugs Search in Moneygall.

As part of ongoing intelligence led joint investigations targeting organised criminal activity being conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the Serious Crime Task Force and Revenue’s Customs Service, herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €730,000 was seized at Dublin Port last Friday June 30th.  Revenue’s new mobile x-ray scanner was deployed in the search of a haulage vehicle that had arrived into Ireland containing farm machinery, and the cannabis was discovered concealed within the farm machinery.  

Follow-up searches were subsequently conducted in the Moneygall area and Wednesday July 5th Gardaí arrested a male aged 52 on suspicion of drug trafficking, who is currently detained at Nenagh Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficking ) Act 1996.
