The newly formed Lorrha Community Responder Group on their first outing which was in the Lorrha St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  

Enrolment.

Scoil Lua Naofa Lorrha are enrolling for September 2017. If you would like to call to the school talk to the teachers or to collect an Application form please phone (090) 9747295. We will also post out an form to you when you leave your name and postal address or email luanaofa@eircom.net. Application forms can be also be downloaded from the school web site www.lorrhans.ie. Bus service available on selected routes.

Church News.

Summer-time begins next Sunday, 26th March. Mass will be celebrated in Redwood Church – Vigil Mass, at 8.00p.m commencing  Saturday, 1st April and in Lorrha Church on Sundays at 10.00a.m. and Rathcabbin Church on Sundays 11.30a.m.

North Tipperary Ploughing.

The North Tipperary Ploughing committee were forced to cancel the championships yet once again due to the heavy rain towards the later end of the last week. They apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. A new date of Saturday coming March 25th has been provisionally penciled in and once again all will depend how the week’s weather pans out. The time remains the same, 12.30p.m. on the lands of Joe and Lillian Austin, Borrisokane by kind permission. The site is situated close to the COI hall on the Ballingarry road. Lorrha Rathcabbin Energy Team.

Lorrha Rathcabbin Energy Team (LRET) are holding their Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the GAA Clubhouse, Moatfield, on Thursday, 23rd March 2017 at 8pm.  All are welcome to attend.

Spring De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the spring collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and maths including bath toilet and shower math’s, soiled or wet clothing. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed. Many thanks for your continued support.

Late Sean O’Meara.

The death took place on Saturday March 18th of Sean O’Meara Nenagh and formerly Lorrha and St. Kieran’s Care Home Rathcabbin, after a long illness. After funeral Mass in St. Ruadhan’s Church Lorrha on Tuesday 21st. burial took place in Nenagh. Sympathy is extended to his family. May he rest in peace.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Brendan Flynn and family Carrigahorig and extended relatives, on the death of his brother John, Nenagh which occurred on Saturday 18th. March.  After funeral Mass in Terryglass Church on Tuesday last, burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.

In Concert.

South East Galway Comhaltas in conjunction with Galway Comhaltas are delighted to present Sean Keane in concert on Friday April 7th in Portumna Town Hall at 8pm. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets priced at €20 can be purchased through Salmons Newsagents, Portumna or call (087) 0994578.

Fashion Show.

Portumna Community School are hosting their own fashion show , organized by Transition Years on Thursday, 23rd March at 7.30pm, in Portumna Community School.  Cheese and wine reception on arrival. Tickets are available from the school and in all participating boutiques and at the door – €15 for adult;  €12 – student/ senior citizen. Come and support local students and teachers as they strut down the catwalk.
