The recently elected Rathcabbin Players committee who will oversee the forthcoming production by Marian Frawley of Michael Carey’s comedy “Thy Will Be Done”. Raffle Results.

Congratulations to the following who were winners in the Lorrha Christmas market and auction raffle which was held on Sunday Dec. 4th.  Food hamper: R.J. Wilson (Lorrha), Bt. Party Night.

To get you in the Christmas spirit, Louis and Kathleen McCormack Abbeyville will host a Christmas party on Friday night 16th from 9pm. Bring along your singing voice and a musical instrument if you have one and join the festivities. Light refreshments served. All are welcome.

Graduation.

Congratulations is extended to Eoin McIntyre, son of Aidan and Pauline, Portland, Lorrha who was recently conferred with an Honours B.Ed. degree from St. Patrick’s College. A college of DCU. Well done Eoin and all the best for the future.

Kickboxing Award.

Congratulations is extended to Ava Young, daughter of Michael and Anna, Lorrha, who was presented with a Double grade in Bo-ju-kai at Nenagh kickboxing club recently. A pupil of Lorrha N.S. Ava loves her kickboxing. Well done Ava.


Ecumenical Service.

The annual Ecumenical Carol service will be held on Thursday night December 15th at 8.00pm in St. Ruadhan’s C.O.I. Lorrha. Refreshments will be served in the church afterwards. All welcome.

Christmas Get Together.

Rathcabbin Players are holding a Christmas get together on Friday night 16th in Kelly’s Rathcabbin from 9.30pm. Everyone is invited and we look forward to seeing you there.

Community Hero Award.

David McEvoy from Birr First Responders was the winner of the National Community Hero award last week. His group have saved numerous lives and have trained 1,400 people over the past four years, some of them from this parish. They have responded to 568 calls and are on duty 24/7. In thanksgiving for voting for him David invites everyone to join him in celebrations on Friday night Dec 30th from 9pm in Dooly’s Hotel Birr. Everyone is welcome.

Late Terence White.

The sudden death occurred on Tuesday December 6th of Terry White, Lorrha and formerly Staffordshire and Sheffield. Sympathy is extended to his wife Nancy, sons Ian, Gary and David, daughters in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Pat, brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours, relatives and friends. After Service in St. Ruadhan’s C.O.I. on Saturday morning 10th , burial took place in St. Ruadhan’s R.C. cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Rapunzel in Banagher.

Banagher College Coláiste na Sionna, Transition Year class present, ‘Rapunzel’ in The School Hall at 7.30pm on Wednesday 14th & Thursday 15th December.   Tickets at door –  adults €8 and Children €4.
Tracing Relations Reminder.

Patrick Hogan is trying to trace his relations. His Great-great Grandfather was Michael Hogan (b. 1829- d. 1915) who was married to Mary Kilkeary and they had six children Patrick (his great grandfather), Peter, Bridget, John, Michael and Mary. Sacrament of Reconciliation for Christmas, in Borrisokane Church on Monday, December 19th  at 8.00pm

Pilgrimage.

Michael O’Connor will escort a tour to Benevento and San Giovanni from 18th April 2017. Many will remember Michael who attended a healing Mass in Clonfert last May with a Padre Pio relic.. Itinerary to include a visit the birth place of Saint Padre Pio and the church where he celebrated his first Mass. The cell where he lived and died, and his tomb. Direct flight from Dublin to Naples. Winter De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the winter collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and maths including bath toilet and shower math’s, soiled or wet clothing. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed. Many thanks for your continued support.

Gaa News

Senior Club AGM: on this Thursday 15th December at 8pm in the GAA Centre. All members and non-members are welcome to attend.

Schools: Congratulations to Colm Fogarty who helped Borrisokane Community College to win the Tipperary Post Primary Schools Under 15 ‘B’ hurling title recently.

Tipperary Clubs Draw: The club had no winner in the December draw held last week. Thanks to everyone who subscribes to the draw.

Lotto: Congratulations to Bridie Harnett who won the Lorrha GAA Lotto jackpot of €12,150 last week. The lucky numbers were: 8 – 15 – 16 – 20. The promoter of the winning ticket was Martin Hough.  Our jackpot now reverts to €3000 with a Match 3 pot of €100. You can play our lotto online at www.locallotto.ie.

Social Dancing: on Friday 23rd December to the music of Pat & Richie and on Friday 30th December with the Moynihan Brothers. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Lambe family on the passing of Tom Lambe, Coolross, at the age of 98. Tom Lambe was a very active man and loved athletics and hurling in equal measure. From an early age he was a classy hurler, particularly in the half back line and helped Lorrha to the County Intermediate title in 1946 and the North Senior Hurling title in 1948, hurling at adult level for over 20 years before going onto be a selector on numerous teams as well as being active in club affairs. He was presented with a Sean Ghael award by the Tipperary County Board in 2010. May he rest in peace.
