Lorrha Notes

Late Michael Mannion.

The unexpected death occurred on Sunday last September 18th  at Letterkenny University Hospital of Mick Mannion, Dungloe, Donegal and late of Curraghagloss, Lorrha. Sympathy is extended to his wife Mary, daughters Frances and Joanne, sons in law Myles and Mick, grandchildren, brothers, sister, aunt, relatives, neighbours and friends on their great loss. After funeral Mass in the Church of Our Lady, Enniscrone, Co. Sligo on Tuesday last, burial took place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Kilglass. May he rest in peace.

Congratulations is extended to Dr Shane Murray, son of Margaret and Frank, Portland, Lorrha, who was conferred recently with an Honours Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree by University of Leicester.  Shane also received the Phillip Hammersley Gold Medal 2016, and the BMA Prize for Clinical Excellence 2016. Well done Shane and the best of luck in the future.

Church News.

Sacred Stillness offers us a day to explore the inner journey with John Doherty. Venue: Mt. St. Joseph’s Monastery, Roscrea. Date: Sat. 8th Oct. Time: 10am-4.30pm.Cost: €25 (includes tea/coffee/light lunch). Through guided meditation and input, we will be helped to anchor in the present and to understand something of the contemplative path. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament continues every Thursday from 10am to 10pm. in  Rathcabbin  Church. We invite all parishioners to come & stay a while in the presence of Jesus.

Lorrha Junior Camogie:

The Lorrha Junior girls take on Boherlahan in the Championship County Semi-Final on Saturday coming the  24th Sept in The Ragg camogie grounds at 2pm. Best of luck to players and management. For supporters travelling to the match please note the entry fee on the gate is €10. All support hugely appreciated.

Autumn De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the autumn collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and maths including bath toilet and shower math’s, soiled or wet clothing. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed. Many thanks for your continued support.
