Country Singer Pete Kennedy with Joe Dolan Chairman Country Fest Committee, Tradstone and Graham Downs Chairman Lorrha GAA club. Lorrha GAA club host a feast of country music when the big guns roll into town this coming Sunday July 17th. Mike Denver, Robert Mizzell, Louise Morrissey, The Conquerors, Johnny Brady, Pete Kennedy, Sean Slattery & The Connections and local band Tradstone will entertain the crowds from 12pm to 7pm for just €20. There will be dancing area, seating, food and plenty of parking for up to 3500 fans. Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Barry Walker, Ferry Inn, and his family on the death of his father Patrick which occurred on Wednesday 29th June. After funeral Mass in the Church of The Assumption, Enfield, burial took place in Coole Cemetery, Summerhill. May he rest in peace.

Church News:

Youth 2000  Summer Festival, Cistercian College , Roscrea, from Thursday 7th July – Sunday 10th July 2016.  For young people aged 16 – 35, an opportunity not to be missed to experience the catholic faith & meet many new young people, with over 1200 young people from all corners of Ireland attending last year.  The festival is donation only. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament  continues  every Thursday from 10am to 10pm Rathcabbin  Church.  We invite all parishioners to come and stay a while in the presence of Jesus.
Please note, to facilitate traffic for the Lorrha Country Fest on Sunday July 17th. Mass in Rathcabbin will be at the earlier time of 10am and in Lorrha at 11.30am on that Sunday only.

St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association.

Members of St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association are now on a break for the summer and are due to return to their normal meetings on Wednesday, 14th September.  There are trips organised for the summer break as follows:

27th July – Trip to Glasnevin/Kilmainham

10th August – Bunratty Folk Park with a Meal on the way home.

There is also a 4 night break on a DBB basis in the Hillgrove Hotel Monaghan – cost of €290. pps.  Coach to pick up in the village and take out on trips each day. If anyone is interested in any of these trips please contact 087 761 3458 as soon as possible.

Gun License.

Gardai wish to remind all gun owners in the parish to renew their firearms license. An unlicensed firearm is illegal and holders of such is liable for prosecution. You can call to the Garda station in Borrisokane where you will receive help and advise with the filling out of the form should you need it.

Summer De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the summer collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and maths including bath toilet and shower math’s, soiled or wet clothing. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed. Many thanks for your continued support.

GAA Notes:

Junior: Lorrha will begin their Junior ‘B’ Championship campaign away to Templederry on Saturday 16th July at 7.30pm. Subsequent games will be home to Newport, away to Moneygall and home to Ballina with the top three teams in the group progressing to the knockout stages.

Minor: Lorrha Rovers Gaels begin their Minor ‘B’ Championship campaign on Wednesday 13th July at home to Silvermines at 7.30pm. Best of luck to the players and mentors

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers began their U16 ‘A’ Hurling Championship away to Nenagh Eire Og last Monday, news next week. Next Monday they host Roscrea in either Moatfield or Ballinderry at 6.30pm

Under 14: Lorrha Rovers made it five wins from five in the championship with a 2-15 to 1-6 win over Borrisokane last Wednesday. This evening (Wednesday) they play Burgess in Moatfield at 6.30pm

Under 12: Lorrha have now topped the group and progressed to the semi-finals which will be played in the coming weeks.

Tipperary: Best of luck to Patrick Maher, Brian Hogan, John Madden and the Tipperary Senior hurling team in the Munster Final against Waterford on Sunday.

Best of luck also the minor team in their Munster final and hard luck to the senior footballers in their Munster Final loss to Kerry.
