Benemerenti Awards The pupils and staff of Scoil Lua Naofa wish to extend congratulations to Eileen Mannion, a former teacher of our school, who was presented with the Benemerenti Medal recently by Fr. Pat Mulcahy P.P. Eileen received the award in recognition of her outstanding service in the role of music and choir. When Eileen took up her teaching career in the school in 1968, part of the responsibility was to organise a choir which she has continued to do through the years. We also extend our congratulations to Richie Bourke and to Mary O’Meara who also received Benemerenti Medals. We thank them for their work in the Church and wish them many more years in their respective roles.

Our third loss means we are demoted to roinn 2 for 2017. To get back into the county championship we now have to win the North Championship and our first round game against Roscrea will take place on 28-29 May or 4-5 June.
Under 16: Lorrha Rovers Gaels played Inane Rovers in the North U16 ‘A’ Football final on Monday but fell to a 3-8 to 0-8 defeat. Hard luck to the players and mentors but it was a great achievement to get to the final and we look forward to the hurling championship in the coming weeks.
