Congratulations to the Lorrha Rovers under 16 team who beat Borrisokane on Saturday last in the North ‘B’ Final. They now play Cahir on Saturday 26th in Templemore at 12 noon in the County semi-final. The best of luck to all concerned.

Double Celebration.

St Rudhans Church of Ireland in Lorrha will celebrate its Bi-centennial and parishioners will also hold the annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service on Sunday 4th October at 3.00pm, led by Bishop Kenneth Kearon, Bishop of Killaloe. Tea and refreshments will be served in the hall afterwards and all are welcome.

First Response Courses.

The final two cardiac first response courses are on Friday 2nd October 7-10.30pm and Saturday 3rd October 6-9pm in Rathcabbin hall costing €10. The ideal would be that every townland would have at least one to two cardiac first responders. If you live in Coolross,  around the Pike, or along the Borrisokane road from Ravakeen to Kilcarron and would like to learn this simple lifesaving skill please contact Darina 0579139981/0872140412 to book a place.  Teenagers can attend also. A first aid course also run by Birr First Responders Group will take place on Monday 12th  October 2015 in Rathcabbin Hall at 7pm costing €35. Book your place at the number above.

Gurteen Badminton Club Reminder.

Gurteen Badminton Club which play in Gurteen Agriculture Collage has now commenced play for the new season. Juveniles play on Monday nights 7.00/8.30pm and adult members on Fridays from 8.00pm. New members welcome. For further information contact…Leslie 0876375554.

Recent Wedding.

The wedding took place on August 29th in St. Saran’s Church, High Street, Belmont of Michael O’Brien, son of Michael and Mary, Ballyoughter, Rathcabbin to Dawn Lucas, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Lucas, Belmont.

The bride was attended by her sister Stephanie while her cousin Megan Digan and friend Sarah McDonagh were also attending on the bridesmaid party. The bestman was Brendan O’Brien, brother of the groom with groomsmen Ross Lucas brother of bride and Ivan Delahunt friend. The grooms niece and nephew Rebecca and David Abbott were flower girl and page boy respectively and they had a great time too. Fr. Murray performed the lovely ceremony with Ian Concannon and Charlotte Abbott doing the readings. Afterwards the newly married couple joined their family and friends for their reception which was held in the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore before leaving for their honeymoon which they spent in the USA. Congratulations and many good wishes is extended to Michael and Dawn and you are wished many years of happiness together.

Autumn De-Clutter.

Thinking of clearing out the wardrobe to make room for the Autumn collection? Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Summer months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Autumn collection. We will accept any kind of bag or in bags provided by the committee. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text  (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (086) 8355405 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, Pillows and cushions, Carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats), Soiled or wet clothing. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.

Art & German Classes

Art & Craft for children (5 years up) on Saturdays at 5pm, German through fun at 2pm, starting on October 3rd for 8 weeks. Lotto: Our jackpot is now €6,450. Thank you for your continued support. You can play our lotto online at www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.

Junior Football: A understrength junior footballers lost 6-14 to 3-8 to Ballina in Puckane last Wednesday. They also play Newport in round 3 in Ballingarry this evening (Wednesday, 23rd September) at 8pm where a win will see us into the final.

Under 21 Hurling: Lorrha have been drawn against Templederry in the first round of the North ‘B’ Championship with this game provisionally set for Sunday, 4th October in Toomevara at 3.30pm

Under 16: Congratulations to the Lorrha/Shannon Rovers team who defeated Borrisokane 3-10 to 1-14 in the North ‘B’ final in Toomevara on Saturday afternoon. The players produced a great comeback late on to win. Congrats to the Lorrha panellists David Sullivan, Daniel O’Donoghue, Tomas Kennedy, Alan O’Meara, Oliver Cleary and Alexanders Semjonovs. Best of luck to the team in the County semi-final against Cahir in Templemore on Saturday, 26th September at 12noon.

Juvenile Table Quiz: takes place this Saturday, 26th September at 9pm in Moatfield. Table of 4 – €40. Top prize €200. Raffle on night with the top prize of a hamper. Your support would be appreciated.

Race Night: The club will be hosting a fundraising Race Night in the GAA Centre on Saturday, 24th October. We will be selling horses over the coming weeks and your support would be appreciated.

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: We ask all promoters to bring their accounts up to date.

Tipperary: Hard luck to the Tipperary minor footballers in the All Ireland Final against Kerry last Sunday.

Social Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Brendan McGee. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am. Practice every Monday night from 8.30-10.30pm.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Connolly family and Loughmore/Castleiney GAA Club over the death of Eddie Connolly who passed away last week. May he rest in peace.
