During the holidays when you are out and about and have plenty of time to notice the variety of interesting sights all around us – nature, people working, summer activities etc. happening in the parish. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Autumn collection. We will accept any kind of bag or in bags provided by the committee. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text  (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (086) 8355405 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, Pillows and cushions, Carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats), Soiled or wet clothing. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.

Knockshegowna Hill Draws The Crowds.

The rain stayed away as close on five hundred people attended the first ever Mass on Knockshegowna Hill on Saturday evening July 25th. concelebrated by Fr’s Meehan and Cleary. Situated a few miles South of Birr and in Ballingarry, North Tipperary, off the N52 in the Shinrome parish, the hill is privately owned and forms part of Fairymount Open Farm. Erected in 1949 to celebrate the arrival of electricity in the area the large wooden illuminated high cross on the top of the 212m high hill draws people all year round to view the seven counties that can be seen.

Lotto: The numbers drawn last Monday were: 3 – 18 – 21 – 30. No Winner. No Match 3 winner. Lucky Dips x 4: Cahalan Boys, Tina O’Brien, Keith Brady, Margaret Morris. Promoters: Jimmy Dunne, Tommy Cahalan, Pat Hough. Our jackpot is now €5,100. Thank you for your continued support. Senior: Our championship campaign is now in limbo as we await the progress of Killenaule and Eire Og Annacarty in their divisional championships. Killenaule will play Ballingarry or Mullinahone in the South final while Eire Og Annacarty will play Knockavilla Kickhams in the West final. If one or both is successful, we will progress to the last 16, which won’t be played until late August at the earliest.

Junior Hurling: Lorrha recorded a good 3-16 to 1-7 win over Nenagh Eire Og in their second game of the championship in Moatfield on Friday evening. Goals from David Fogarty (2) and Eoin Gormally. Lorrha have two group games remaining, away to Shannon Rovers on Sunday, 9th August at 12 noon and Ballina on Saturday, 15th August at 7.00pm

Minor: The minor hurlers recorded their second win of the championship with a 0-25 to 1-11 win over Templederry in Templederry last Wednesday. It keeps the team in the hunt for the semi-finals ahead of our next game at home to Moneygall/Clonakenny this evening (Wednesday) at 7pm. Our final group game will be away to Silvermines.

Under 16: Lorrha/Shannon Rovers defeated Burgess in Ballinderry on Monday week last. Last Monday, they are away to Borrisokane and won 4-11 to 1-17. There is no game next Monday with the team returning to action against Portroe on Monday, 10th August.

Under 14: Lorrha/Shannon Rovers lost 2-9 to 1-3 in a semi-final playoff last Wednesday. This means they will play Newport Gaels in the North ‘B’ semi-final in Moatfield on Wednesday, 12th August at 7.00pm.

Under 12: The Under 12’s recorded a 3-5 to 3-2 win over Templederry in Moatfield last Friday.

All Ireland Semi-Final Tickets: Orders for All Ireland semi-final tickets on 16th August must be submitted to Shane Brophy by next Sunday night, 2ndAugust. No orders will be accepted after this date. Hogan & Cusack Stand – €40; Terrace – €25; Davin Stand – €10; Family – €40 adult + €5 juvenile.

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: The club had no winner in the July Draw which took place in Clonmel last Friday. We ask all promoters to bring their accounts uptodate.

Tipperary: Best of luck to Caoimhe Kennedy and the Tipperary senior camogie team in the All Ireland quarter final v Cork this weekend. Also to the Tipp minor footballers in their All Ireland quarter final against Galway.

Social Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Declan Aungier. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
