Church News.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament continues every Thursday from 10am to 10pm in Rathcabbin Church. Friday (5th June) is the First Friday of the month. Mass in Lorrha at 9.30a.m. Confessions beforehand. Rathcabbin Liturgy of the Word and distribution of Holy Communion at 8.00p.m. Sunday 7th June, is Corpus Christi.
Sympathy
Sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Teresa (Tessie) McAuliffe, Clyduff, Roscrea, née Guinan, Culleen, Rathcabbin, who died on May 26th. After Concelebrated funeral Mass in St.Mary’s Church, Dunkerrin on Thursday 28th burial took place in the new Cemetery Dunkerrin. May she rest in peace.
Councillor Sanford Presentation.
Cllr. Wayne Sanford made a presentation of a Collie (Perth) native timber plaque to Lorrha Development Association when he visited Lorrha recently. This plaque can be viewed in Pat Hough’s window. Our thanks to Pat who as always, is so accommodating to Lorrha Development.
Development Meeting.
Lorrha Development Association / Tidy Towns will hold a meeting on Tuesday night June 9th in the Community Hall at 8pm. We are always looking for new members and for volunteers. All welcome to attend.
Rathcabbin School.
W.B. Yeates Competition. Well done to Donnacha O’Meara and Jack Williams on winning regional prizes in the W.B Yates Competition’ for poetry and artwork run by Laois Education Centre.’
Write A Book Project. Comhgairdeas to our prize winners in the ‘Write A Book Project’ recently. We were very proud to here the following children earned prizes for the original books and stories that they composed. The winners were Merit : Liam Donoghue, Highly Commended : Nicola Kelly, Rachel Cleary, Lee Hogan, Nadine Clancy.
Confirmation. Congratulations to our 11 children who received their Confirmation on Sunday the 24th in Rathcabbin. The children participated with distinction in the ceremony. Thank you to Fr. Pat, Richie Bourke and the choir and all who helped to make it a special day.
Athletics: Well done to our medal winners and all the children that took part in the athletics day recently.
Activities. The children are enjoying weekly tennis lessons and continue their hurling and Irish Dancing each week also.
Reading. Thank you to Birr Library for presenting the school with a framed certificate marking the achievement of the school reading for a combined total of 120,400 minutes during the reading challenge.
Open Day. The school will be having an open day for new students in mid June. This especially for our newly enrolled children starting with us in September. If there are families with inquiries please contact the school.
Summer De-Clutter.

De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Summer collection. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, Pillows and cushions, Carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats), Soiled or wet clothing. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.
News From Lorrha School.
Congratulations to Hannah, Ronan, Ryan, Keeva, Ronan, Caoimhe, Luke, Cian. Tom and Colm who received Confirmation on Sunday may 24th in Rathcabbin Church. Well done to all the pupils and their parents and to all helped make the day so wonderful.
Portumna & District Lions Club Annual Fun Cycle — Sunday, 21st June at 1pm in Portumna Square

Redwood School.
Redwood NS are celebrating Active week 2015 from 2nd -5th June where they will take part in a range of different activities including golf, badminton, zumba, athletics, yoga and tennis to name but a few. Redwood NS were delighted to be successful earlier this year on achieving the Active Flag.
