Church News.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament continues every Thursday from 10am to 10pm in Rathcabbin Church. The Earthquake in Nepal has killed thousands of people and left eight million affected. Concern are working there. Would you like to help? If so, give a donation to Father Pat.
Rosary at Our Lady’s Grotto, Lorrha Village, on Wednesday, 20th May, at 7.30pm. Parents, family and children who have received First Holy Communion and those receiving Confirmation on Pentecost are especially welcome, also those who are getting married or have suffered bereavement recently.
Confirmation.
Pupils from the three schools in the parish will celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday coming the 24th in Rathcabbin Church at 11.30am. We wish the young people, their parents, families and teachers the very best.
May Devotions.
The popular May Masses and Devotions to Our Lady of Clonfert continue till the end of the month. Mass each evening at 8pm except Sundays. will feature a different celebrant each evening. On Sunday evenings there is Rosary and Benediction at 7pm.
Fundraising Fashion Show.
A Fashion Show will be held in Coláiste na Sionna, Banagher on Saturday May 23rd at 8.30pm. All funds collected will go towards The Oblate Fathers Lourdes Invalid Fund. Tickets €10, available from Kieran Horan, Banagher College, Pat & Delia Horan. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Summer De-Clutter.
Thinking of clearing out the wardrobe to make room for the Summer collection? Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Summer months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Summer collection. We will accept any kind of bag or in bags provided by the committee. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (086) 8355405 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, Pillows and cushions, Carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats), Soiled or wet clothing. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.
Summer Camp.
Busy Bodies Summer Camp 2015 takes place in Killeen National School, starting June 29th for four weeks. Age 3 years to 10 years. Hours are 9.30am to 3.00pm. For more information please call Ann at 057 91 21842. Or 087 9625218. Forms can be got in Kelly’s Shop.
Redwood School News.
Enrolment Day
Redwood N.S. will have their enrolment day for new Junior Infants on Wednesday, 03rd June from 09.20 to 12.30. It is a fantastic opportunity for your child to become familiar with their teacher and meet the children who will be in their class to help make the transition to Primary school easier. Opening Hours
Redwood N.S. will be open from 8.30 am every morning for pupils to arrive. School will start at 8.50 am for all classes and finish at 1.30pm for infants and all other classes will finish at 2.30pm
After school Homework/Activity club
Redwood N.S. will run an afterschool club each evening directly after school until 5pm
Artist in Primary School Scheme
We are delighted to have been selected to take part in this scheme funded by Tipperary County Council. The children will be working with artist Joanna Williams in the area of shadow performance and puppetry. The scheme involves 50 hours of contact time between the children and artist at the end of which the children exhibit their work along with other successful schools in Tipperary. The work the children will undertake will all fall under the theme of ‘Biodiversity’ as we work towards our fifth green flag.
Parents Association
Redwood N.S. would like to thank all our parents for the great work in organising and running the annual buffet dance fundraiser. A huge thank you to all those who supported the dance. The money raised will now go to purchasing new laptops for the pupils.
Athletics
Congratulations to all the pupils from 3rd to 6th class who participated in the track and field events in Borrisokane Athletic Club last week. The children all did exceptionally well, bringing home medals in boys and girls shot putt, boys 100m sprint and girls 100m sprint.
Tennis / Hurling
Tennis lessons continue with Miss. Darcy each week on the school court and the lunchtime tennis league is in full swing. The junior classes have now begun their hurling training sessions with trainer Jimmy Dunne and are showing great skill and determination!!
Fundraiser.
St Cillians Camogie Club and Carrig/Riverstown GAA bringing the Kube to the County Arms Birr on Sunday May 31st at 8.15pm This professionally run event promises a great nights entertainment with many players, politicians and local people all representing various charities and local clubs hoping to claim the prize of €2500 .
