Table Quiz.

North Tipperary Ploughing Association will hold a fundraising table quiz on Friday night 21st November at 8.30p.m. in The Yanks, Borrisokane. €40 per table. Winners €100. Raffle, refreshments and rattle your brains!!!

Well Done Aoife.

Congratulations to Aoife Mounsey, Lorrha who was presented recently with a Pope John Paul 11award  in the diocese of Killaloe. The presentation was made by Bishop Kieran O’Reilly and Clare hurler Colin Ryan. A past pupil of Lorrha N.S. Aoife is presently a student in Portumna Community School and was one of 101 young people from across the diocese to receive the award which recognises the work of young people in various aspects of their communities. Well done Aoife.

A New Year Date.

Rathcabbin Players held their annual general meeting recently and the same committee as last year will continue the good work of the group. Chairman – Tadhg Nevin, Vice Chairman – Ray Clancy, Secretary – Fiona Kennedy, Treasurer – Willie Reddin, Assistant Treasurer – Eamon Smyth, PRO –Rose Mannion. The group have chosen a three act comedy “Wild Goose Chase” written by Derek Benfield and rehearsals will commence shortly. Back as producer for his second year with the group is Banagher man Brendan Dolan who will guide the thespians to their end of January performance. Watch this space for more details coming soon.

Fundraising Draw.

Lorrha Apostolic Work Society will be holding their annual fundraising draw in Lorrha Community Hall on Thursday night December 11th at 8p.m. In the meantime, ticket sellers are out and about and will be calling to you. Tickets are €2 per line. Please support.

Church News.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday from 10am to 10pm in Rathcabbin Church. We invite all parishioners to come and stay a while in the presence of Jesus. Ormond Octaves Choir invite you to the launch of their Choral Favourites CD, at the Thatched Cottage, Ballycommon, on Saturday 22nd November @ 8.00pm. All welcome.   Proceeds in aid of Torth Tipp Hospice.

2015 Calendar.

The 2015 Lorrha Parish Calendar is on sale throughout the parish and in Portumna, in time to post to loved one’s for Christmas, especially those living away from home. It also serves as a lovely keepsake. The calendar is packed from front cover to back with photographs from the past and the present. Winter De-Clutter.

Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Autumn months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Winter collection. We will accept any kind of bag or in bags provided by the committee. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text  (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (086) 8355405 with your name and details. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.

Mother Knows Best.

Lorrha Variety group will be performing “Mother Knows Best” written by Jimmy Keary and directed by Phil Quigley 5th, 6th and 7th December in Lorrha Hall.

Christmas Market & Auction.

Lorrha Development Association / Tidy Towns will be holding their Annual fundraising Christmas Market and Auction on Sunday December 7th in Lorrha Hall. St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement.

We enjoyed a wonderful holiday on the Wild Atlantic Way in Westport visiting Kylemore Abbey with evening entertainment. We also had a day out at Adair where we were entertained by the local A.R.A. We had a delicious dinner and a tour of the village by bus. We continue to meet on Wednesday’s at 2.30pm in Lorrha Hall. Do join us if you can.

AGM

Portumna Arts Group and Shorelines Festival will hold their AGM on Thursday, 27th November at 8pm in the Irish Workhouse Centre – Portumna. All welcome! The agenda will include election of the 2015 committee, reports from 2014 as well as plans for Shorelines Arts Festival 2015. We would love to see more people getting involved — in whatever capacity, big or small!

New Year Course.

Landscaping & Horticulture course starting 5th January 2015 in St. Rynagh’s College of Further Education, Banagher. Now recruiting!
