Lorrha U14 camogie team who had a great win over Portroe recently in the Championship.
Church News.
Instead of the Vigil Mass, in Redwood Church during the month of September, Liturgy of the Word and Communion will take place at 8.00pm. This will involve people from the parish leading the Faith Community in prayer.
Killaloe Diocese – Autumn Pilgrimage to Lourdes: will leave Shannon Airport on Tuesday, October 7th returning on Sunday, October 12th. The cost this year is €657 pp with a €10 discount for online booking.

Annual Mass of Thanksgiving
The annual Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated in Redwood Castle on Friday coming, 29th August at 8.00p.m. All are welcome.
Birthday Greetings.
Congratulations and many good wishes is extended to Mary O’Brien, The Pike, Rathcabbin who celebrated her 80th birthday recently. Mary celebrated this wonderful occasion with family and friends in Kelly’s Last Chance pub in Rathcabbin. Well done Mary.
Late Mai Guinan.
The sudden death occurred on Saturday 16th in Portumna Retirement Home of Mai Guinan, Ballymacegan, Lorrha. Nee Murray, Mai was a friendly outgoing person who loved the company of friends and neighbours. She and her late husband farmed in Ballymacegan throughout their married lives. Predeceased by her husband Kevin she is survived by her sister Madge Stapleton, brother Dick, niece, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom sympathy is offered. After funeral Mass in St. Ruadhan’s Church Lorrha on Tuesday 19th burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Sympathy is extended to the relatives of Alfie Dyer, Lorrha who passed away recently. After funeral service in St. Ruadhan’s C.O.I. Lorrha on Saturday 16th burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Home Instead Senior Care:
Next FREE Dementia Education Workshop is in Thurles on Tuesday 16th September in the Anner Hotel. These workshops offer families practical advice on caring for a loved one with a dementia. This training is also being provided to multidisciplinary Staff (such as caterers) working in Nenagh Hospital to enhance staffs ability to communicate and understand patients with memory. Table Quiz.
Shorelines Arts Festival Annual Fundraiser Table Quizwill take place on Friday, August 29th at 9pm in The Boathouse Bar. A vast range of prizes kindly donated by Friends & Sponsors. Student tables are €20 and adult tables €40 for a table of 4. A fun night for all age groups.
Re-Opening.
The popular mother, toddler and baby group will re-open in Lorrha Community Hall on Thursday September 4th at 10.30am. All toddlers and baby’s are welcome to attend with a parent.
Art Exhibition.
Portumna’s Shorelines Arts Exhibition 2014 will run this year from 7th-28th September at The Gallery at The Workhouse Portumna. Local artists wishing to submit a piece are asked to bring it to the Workhouse on 1st Sept from 6.30-8pm. Further details from 086-3195603.
Course Opportunities.

Fundraising Walk.
Rory Dunne from Borrisokane is walking Carrauntoohil on Saturday coming August 30th as a fundraising effort. All money collected will be going to the Roscrea branch of Pieta House. This organisation provide a free councilling service for people with self harm and suicidal thoughts. Camogie Notes.
Junior A Championship:
The Lorrha girls are playing in the 3rd round of the Championship on this Sunday the 31st of August against Cashel in Cashel GAA Grounds at 12 noon. The girls have had two wins from two so far in the group stages. We urge all supporters to come and support the team and we wish all the best of luck.
U14’s:
Well Done to the Lorrha U14’s who had a great win on Thursday evening over a strong and skillful Portroe side. It was a very entertaining and close match with some great skill on show. The Lorrha girls came out with a one goal win in the end. Well done girls. Congratulations to Tipperary U16 team on their great win over Galway in the All-Ireland final.
