Tempting Treats – A Taste of Lough Derg Event at the Tuscany Bistro.

Forthcoming Events.

1.       Brookfield Farm in Coolbawn hosts a guided farm walk Sunday the 10th of August

2.        Larkins Bar & Restaurant will host a Garden Party & Talent Show for their A Taste of Lough Derg Event on the 24th of August

3.       Sunflowers from the garden at Good & Green, Annacarriga. A Garden walk and wood turning demo takes place on the 15th Aug.

Recent Wedding.

The wedding of Noel Needham son of  PJ & Gay, Rath, Lorrha and Marita Ryan daughter of John & Catherine, Gurtagarry, Toomevaratook place on Saturday 2nd August in St. Joseph’s Church, Gurtagarry, Toomevara.

The bride was attended by her two sisters Shauna and Patrece while the groom was attended by his two brothers Martin and Arthur.  The Celebrant for the occasion was Fr. William McCormack with readers, Martina Needham (sister of the groom) & Gerard Ryan (brother of the bride). The Prayers of the Faithful were read by Aisling Grace, Melissa Kelly, John Ryan, Mary Maher, Br. James Needham & Oisin Culhane relatives and friends of both.

Communion reflection – Marriage means being in love for the rest of your life by Chris Ardis read by Nancy White (Godmother of the groom) while both mothers, Gay and Catherine, brought the offertory gifts to the altar. The beautiful Church music was provided by Michael Ryan (brother of the bride), Samantha Ryan (Fiancé of Michael) & Thomas Slattery (cousin of the bride).

Afterwards the newly weds joined with their families and friend’s for their reception which was held in Dundrum House Hotel, Dundrum.

Congratulations and many good wishes is extended to Noel and Marita as we join with both families, the Needhams and the Ryans to wish the couple a long and happy married life together.

Autumn De-Clutter.

Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Autumn months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Autumn collection. We will accept any kind of bag or in bags provided by the committee. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text  (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (086) 8355405 with your name and details. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep three adults employed.

The latest update on A Taste of Lough Derg.

1.       Brookfield Farm in Coolbawn hosts a guided farm walk Sunday the 10th of August as part of A Taste of Lough Derg

2.       Tempting Treats were served at Tuscany Bistro in Ballina Killaloe for A Taste of Lough Derg event held last week

3.       Larkins Bar & Restaurant will host a Garden Party & Talent Show for their A Taste of Lough Derg Event on the 24th of August

4.       Sunflowers from the garden at Good & Green, Annacarriga. A Garden walk and wood turning demo takes place on the 15th of August as part of A Taste of Lough Derg

Library Events.

Birr Library are organising several events for Vitnage week such as a book launch of Eileen Casey’s new book – A fascination with fabric on Thursday 7th August at 4.45pm

Library voices – Meet Alison Jameson and Donal Ryan on Friday 8th August at 8pm and Gerard O’Meara’s lecture on Satuday 9th August at 11am – Lorrha, Birr and the Great War.

Next Sunday August 10th a walk will take place to the source of the Barrow. This is a grade A walk of approx 4.5 hour walk. Meeting at Clonaslee Bridge at 11am. For further information contact Liam Mannion on (086) 8392056 or Eddie Spain on (087) 9240652.

Camogie Notes.

The club extend the best of luck to players and management when they take on Thurles in the first round of the championship on Saturday 9th in Motefield at 6pm. Supported appreciated.
