Lorrha Notes

We wish all our readers a frightfully good Halloween……

Family Fun Day.

A Family Fun Day will take place in Birr Library on Saturday the 2nd November and it will be  a family day in the library.  We will be handing out the certificates for the Seussalong Family Read to the families who completed the logbook challenge.  There will be a storytime, make and do, free internet for all and loads more fun games.  We are encouraging people to come along in their costumes and with the families and explore what the local library has to offer- no booking required, just arrive on the day.

St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement.

On Wednesday 16th October we were pleased to welcome a group from Adare, Limerick. They enjoyed a historic walking tour of the village with refreshments afterwards. On Wednesday 23rd October we had a very bracing 3k walk through Portumna forest park. This was followed by a delicious meal at the golf club. Cathal did not fail to impress with great presentation and gorgeous food. Thanks to Cathal and staff for looking after us so well. On Saturday 16th November we are planning a trip to the greyhound stadium in Limerick and names are requested as we are booking in advance. We look forward to seeing all our members.

Smile Awhile & laugh a Little Every Day.

A woman walked up to a little old man rocking in a chair on his porch. “I  couldn’t help noticing how happy you look,” she said. “What’s your secret
for a long happy life?”
“I smoke three packs of cigarettes a day,” he said. “I also drink a case of whiskey a week, eat fatty foods, and never exercise.”
“That’s amazing,” said the woman, “how old are you?”
“Twenty-six,” he said.
