Church News.

Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper in Lorrha Church at 8.00p.m. with confessions at 7.30p.m. Good Friday: Celebration of the Passion of Our Lord in Rathcabbin Church at 3.00p.m. Stations of the Cross – outdoors in Lorrha at 8.00p.m.
Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence.
Holy Saturday: Easter vigil in Rathcabbin at 8.00p.m. Confessions at 7.30p.m. Easter Sunday: Mass in Lorrha at 10.00 a.m. and in Rathcabbin at 11.30 a.m.

Vocations Weekend.

Invitation to all young men who feel they might have a vocation to come and see Priesthood it’s challenges activities and ministries in Mount St. Joseph’s Monastery Roscrea on the week-end of 25th. / 26th. Fundraiser.

On Easter Sunday coming the 12th April the Lorrha Parents Association will be hosting a cake sale bring and buy sale and a raffle from 2.00-4.00p.m. in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall. If you would like to donate any goods (books clothes household items in good condition) you can bring them to the hall on Saturday 11th April from 4.00-6.00p.m. Please note that we cannot accept any electrical goods. We look forward to seeing you there.

Information Evening.

North Tipperary disability network are holding an information evening on Wednesday April 8th. in the Parish centre Nenagh. Registration at 6.45 session starts at 7.00p.m. For further information contact Noreen at (067) 44648 / (087) 6350150.

Rathcabbin Development.

A poker classic will take place on Good Friday night the 10th. April at 8.00 p.m. in Rathcabbin Hall. Tickets cost €30 and all are welcome.

Childrens Disco.

Rathcabbin Development committee are holding a childrens Disco in Rathcabbin Hall on Easter Monday the 13th. from 3 to 6.00p.m. with D.J. Ray. Admission is free.

Country Market.

A country market will be held on Holy Thursday the 9th. in the Town Hall Portumna between 8.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Real food locally produced.

“Suimhneas”.

A new North Tipperary cancer support centre called “Suimhneas” has opened in the Pastoral Centre Church Road Nenagh. This drop in centre will provide emotional support and practical help to people living with cancer and anyone affected by it. Opening times are Monday 10 – 2p.m. Tuesday 5p.m. -9p.m. and Wednesday to Friday 10a.m. to 2p.m. Phone (067) 73403.

Support Group.

The stroke support group will hold a meeting on Wednesday 29th. April in the Health Centre in Ballinasloe from 7 to 8p.m. with Eileen Davis Occupational Therapy Manager. Gentle arm exercises.

Fundraising Drive Reminder.

Lorrha Development Association are about to embark on a fundraising drive to develop the green area to the rear of Pairc na Cilla and Friars Close. At present this area is overgrown and the development committee along with the residents committee have been in discussions over many months about future developments here. At a recent meeting it was agreed to progress with plans which will totally transform this area providing a park at one end and a green area to the other end and where children can play in safety. When finished the park which is to be known as Friars Park will be a major enhancement to the village. A meeting will be held on Tuesday night April 14th. at 8.00p.m. in Lorrha Hall to discuss future fundraising plans for this undertaking. We appeal to all interested in seeing this project through to please come to this meeting.

Clean Up.

Lorrha Development Association are holding a clean up of the village and surrounds as part of National Spring Clean on Wednesday evening April 15th. Assembly will be outside the hall at 6.00p.m. Bags and gloves will be provided. Do please come out and help.

Date For Your Diary.

The Annual General Meeting of Lorrha Development Association will take place on Tuesday night April 21st. in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall Lorrha at 8.00p.m. All are invited to attend.

Angling Club News.

Lorrha / Rathcabbin Angling club held the first round of the Pete Boylett Memorial cup (trout competition) on Sunday last. In first place with his catch weighing 1lb. 8 ozs was Dave Harris in second place was Emer Warde with a 1lb. ½ oz. while in third place was Billy Patterson with his catch of 141/2 oz. Thanks is extended to Portumna and District Angling club for the use of their facilities.
The second round will take place on Bank holiday Monday the 13th. April from 2.00 to 6.00p.m.
