Painting Party in Rathcabbin.

A party with a difference will take place in Rathcabbin on Friday 10th. If you are willing to help paint the village walls to brighten up the area please meet outside the Church at 5p.m. Anyone with a spray gun is asked to bring it along. All help required to do this work. Also coming to the village will be the retail therapy cameras to film work in progress in Kelly’s Village Store and while in the village they will also film the village community spirit in action while brightening up the community.
All help is required and will be most welcome.

Congratulations is extended to Megan O’Meara Redwood who was recently called up to the Tipperary Intermediate Camogie panel. Megan will be a great addition to this panel of players who take on Derry in what is expected to be a tough game on August 19th in the All-Ireland Semi-Final. Well done Megan.

We extend the best of luck to Manager Ken Hogan players Cian Hogan and Willie Maher when Tipperary meet Clare in the Munster Final this Wednesday evening in Ennis.

Youth Summer Festival.

There will be a youth summer festival held in Clonmacnois from August 9th to 12th. for young people aged from 16 years to 35. Nicknamed Holy Oxygen because of the large number of young people that have attended in the past the fee is by donation only. If interested call (01) 6753690 or email www.youth2000.ie 

St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association.

The Committee and members would like to offer our sincere sympathy to Kevin Hyland his daughters Rita and Sheila and son in law Chalkie on the recent and very sudden death of Mollie Hyland Cluain Caoin Nenagh. Mollie was the Chairperson of the Mid Western Region of Active Retirement Ireland for the past 2 1/2 years and was also very involved with other voluntary organisations within the North Tipperary area. May she rest in peace.

Pilgrimage.

East Clare Pilgrimage to the Steps of St. Paul and highlights of Turkey including Kusadasi Ephesus Troy Istanbul and more will take place from 27th October to the 3rd. November. Golf Outing.

Conference.

A Catholic Young Adults Conference will take place in All Hallows College on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September. Speakers include Dublin footballer Ger Brennan. Special Olympics.

The newly formed Portumna and District Special Olympics Athletic Club will be holding their first registration evening on Thursday 23rd August from 7 to 8p.m. in the Town Hall Portumna. The club has been formed by a group of parents relatives and friends of people who have intellectual disabilities. The club will cater for anyone from six years upwards with an intellectual disability. Anyone interested in taking part as an athlete or as a volunteer is invited to come along. Get Marching For Tipp Mini Marathon

North Tipperary Sports Partnership and South Tipperary Sports Partnership have joined forces for the third year in organising this exciting women’s 10k event for Thurles. This year’s event will take place on Sunday 30th September at 11am in Thurles starting and finishing at LIT Tipperary. A €200 charitable donation will be made to a charity of your choice for the largest group to register this year. Registration for the event is open and it is well worth registering as soon as possible as the registration is only €15 plus online fee up until August 31st and will be €20 plus online fee until September 24th. Elaine Cullinan co-ordinator North Tipperary Sports Partnership said: “This event is open to ALL runners walkers and joggers. We want to encourage as many women as possible to come out and have fun on the day. You can download training programmes for walking and running the event from the website above and information on all the Meet and Train groups in the county are also listed on the website. The official route and registration details as well as all race information can be found on the event website: www.tippminimarathon.ie. Ms Cullinan added: “Every participant will be chip timed so all runners and walkers will get an accurate time and the event is AAI measured and certified. Thurles has been designated a European Town Of Sport for 2012 so why not get involved and participate this year in the Tipperary Women’s Mini Marathon in Thurles.” The 2012 Tipperary Mini Marathon was officially launched by Minister Michael Ring in May 2012 and former Irish Olympian Catherina McKiernan will once again participate in the event. Valerie Connolly co-ordinator South Tipperary Sports Partnership commented: “I am delighted to be part of this women in sport initiative in Tipperary as it is a great opportunity for women of all ages to get active and take part in our own County Mini Marathon. All finishers will receive a race medallion and goody bag. There will also be spot prizes on the day. The event also provides a great opportunity for participants to raise funds for their own local charities. A charitable donation of €200 to the charity of your choice will be made to the largest group to register this year so get your groups together and get registering.” The Tipperary Mini Marathon committee are also very grateful for the support received from local businesses this year. Tom Harvey Motor Co Ltd. are sponsoring all the water for the event as well as refreshments at the finish line. They will also supply the Lead Car for the event. “A host of other local businesses are contributing to both the goody bag and spot prizes and we are very grateful for their support” said Elaine Cullinan. Today Wednesday August 8th.
Some late warm sunshine this evening but also a few isolated showers mainly over Munster and south-Leinster where one or two might be heavy. Coastal fog patches in the east and south will gradually spread further inland later this evening. Winds will stay light and variable.
Tonight

Any remaining showers will die out soon after dark and the night will be dry with a good deal of cloud in many areas but there will be good clear spells over Ulster. Fog will develop in many areas tonight and some dense fog patches are likely towards dawn. Staying mild with little or no wind; lowest temperatures 12 to 15 degrees Celsius but a few degrees cooler in the far north.
Tomorrow

A mostly dull start to Thursday but with fog retreating to coastal margins of the south and east. Spells of hazy sunshine will develop in many places by afternoon and it will become warm inland. It will stay dry apart from the odd shower. Highest temperatures 19 to 24 degrees Celsius coolest along the coast. Winds light to moderate southeast to east or variable.

Outlook

Thursday night will be mild and dry. Patches of mist or fog are likely. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees. Friday will be warm and dry with good sunny spells developing. There is a risk of fog on east facing coasts for a time. Winds will be mostly light east to southeast and will freshen somewhat in the south later. Highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees warmest in the midlands and west and coolest on east and south facing coasts. Saturday will continue warm with highest temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees. It will be a largely dry in Ulster and much of Leinster. However rain will develop in the southwest around noon and spread over Munster and south Connacht through the afternoon. It will then extend to all areas through the evening and night. Sunday will be mostly cloudy and damp with outbreaks of rain in many areas. The rain will clear eastwards in the evening and early night. It will be a cooler day with temperatures dropping back to the high teens. It will also mark a return to more unsettled weather with spells of rain and showers moving eastwards across the country

Paul took his wife to a disco at the weekend.

There was a guy on the dance floor giving it everything he had;
break-dancing moonwalking back flips the works.

Paul’s wife turned to him and said " See that guy? 25 years ago he proposed to me and I turned him down."

Paul replied "Looks like he’s still celebrating!!
