 Meet the Lorrha Development Lord Mayor Candidates.

Teresa Walker David Power Joe Dolan with Eamonn O’Dwyer of Tipp F.M. who launched the fundraising drive in the Ferry Inn Louis McCormack Development Secretary Rose Mannion Development Chairperson and seated at front is committee member Trish O’Donoghue who was the model of the Lord Mayor chain on the night.  Trish is also the Secretary of the Residence Committee.

Harvest Festival.

The annual harvest festival ceremony will be held in St. Ruadhan’s C.O.I. Lorrha on Sunday October 4th. at 7.00p.m. The Preacher on the night will be Rev. Stan Evans. All are welcome. Tea and refreshments will be served in the hall afterwards.

First Friday.

This coming Friday October 3rd. is the First Friday of the month. Mass will be celebrated in Lorrha at 9.30a.m. and in Rathcabbin at 8.00p.m. Confessions will be heard a half hour before each Mass.

Open Day.

A Munster open day for vocations will be an afternoon of reflection conversation with Prayer will take place on Sunday coming October 4th. from 2.00p.m. to 5.00p.m. at the Pallotine College Thurles.

All Ireland Success For Pakie.

Congratulations to Pakie O’Brien on achieving an All Ireland Junior Loy title for North Tippereary. Well done to John & Joe Slattery Keith O’Sullivan Raymond Hogan Dessie Clancy who participated in the All Ireland in Athy. Remember if you attended the Ploughing Championships and would like to try ploughing as a competition please contact Lisa Smyth 086 3185286 for further information on our Novice competition during October.

Rathcabbin Players.

The Annual General Meeting of Rathcabbin Players will take place on Thursday night October 8th. in Rathcabbin Hall at 8.30p.m. All are welcome.

Lord Mayor Launch Success.

Lorrha Development Association launched the Lord Mayor fundraising drive to a packed Ferry Inn on Saturday night last with Eamonn O’Dwyer declaring the competition open and wishing the three candidates Teresa Walker Joe Dolan and David Power the best of luck after he recorded a ‘Down Your Way’ programme for Tipp F.M. which will be broadcast on Thursday night October 8th. at 7.00p.m. The Development Association wish to thank the candidates for helping to raise valuable funds for this venture and they are wished well in their fundraising efforts. Thanks is also extended to all who came and supported the launch and a special thanks to Tony Molloy Paschal Kennedy Micheal and Ger Lambe and Kate O’Meara for providing the music which you can hear on 103.9 on Thursday 8th.

Computer Course.

An evening computer course for absolute beginners and Intermediates is starting soon at the IRD Centre in Portumna on a first come first served basis. For further information call (090) 9741867.

Recent Engagement.

Congratulations is extended to Lisa Hogan daughter of Emily and Mike Ballymacegan and Trevor Keon Woodford who announced their engagement recently. We extend many good wishes to Lisa and Trevor for the future. Well done.

Angling Club News

Lorrha / Rathcabbin Angling club held their third and last round of the trout competition for the Pete Boylette Memorial Perpetual Trophy on Sunday September 20th. Only two trout were weighed in. In 1st. place was Tony Molloy with a 2lb. 1oz. catch while in second place was Jordan MacCroary with his catch of 1lb. 5ozs. Tony Molloy was the overall winner and well done to him. Lorrha/ Rathcabbin angling club wish to thank Portumna and DistrictAngling club for the use of their facilities.

Autumn Art Classes:

Sketching and art & craft for children at 2.00pm 3.30pm and 5.00pm Pencil

Bus To Athlone.

A local bus will travel to Athlone on the first Friday of every month departs this coming Friday October 2nd. from Portumna Square at 10.30a.m. via Ballinasloe and will stop en route. Departs Athlone at 4.30p.m. Travel pass accepted. Return fare €5 u/18 are €3 u/5’s free. For further information call the IRD on (090) 9741867

Well Done.

Lorrha’s Under 21 team are through to the semi-final after a five point victory over Kildangan on Sunday last in Cloughjordan. Well done lads. See Fixtures.

Good Luck.

We extend the best of luck to the under 16 squad when they take on Moyle Rovers in the Co. semi-final which will possibly be played this coming week-end. See Fixtures. The girls also recorded victory in the Co. camogie semi-final when they had three points to spare at the end of the hour over Annacarty. We extend the best of luck to them in the final against Clonoulty which could also go ahead this coming week-end. See fixtures and we also wish the senior squad good luck in the Seamus O’Riain cup final. See Fixtures for details.

The North Tipperary Rural Transport is Lorrha to Nenagh Tuesday and Saturday Lorrha to Roscrea Thursday and Saturday Lorrha to Birr Friday evenings Lorrha to Kiltormer Wednesday evenings Lorrha to Moatfield on Wednesday afternoons to St. Ruadhan’s active retirement get together. All the above services are from door to door. Travel passes are accepted on all services. Should you not have a travel pass there will be a small charge.

Borrisokane Community College are offering adult education night classes commencing this Thursday night the 1st. October. There is still places available on the computer course organic gardening and polytunnels yoga basic first aid indoor design Meditation and sign language.
