Well  Done George.

Congratulations is extended to George Harding Lorrha who won the Tipperary Juvenile Badminton Championship Doubles under 11 years recently in Templemore. Former Lorrha postman Paddy Corrigan and his wife Breda are George’s coach in Gurteen College and his badminton partner on the day was Ryan Hogan. Both young men gave a great display of skill and fitness which was the winning combination required to win this award. Well done lads and in particular our own parish man George.

Lenten Journey.

Parishioners of Lorrha & Dorrha are invited to attend a service of prayer and reflection based on the theme of healing on Ash Wednesday February 17th. in St. Ruadhan’s Church Lorrha at 7.30p.m. Blessing and distribution of ashes will also take place.

Charity Night.

Friday night February 26th. has been chosen by Rathcabbin Players to stage the hit comedy “Rumors” for the very last time with the proceeds from this final performance going to the victims of the Haiti disaster and as we all know they very much need our help and support still. If you haven’t had a chance up to now to see this comedy well this is your opportunity with doors opening at 8.00p.m. and curtains up at 8.30p.m. sharp. Lorrha Lord Mayer Candidate Joe Dolan is holding a fundraising Poker Classic in The Last Chance Rathcabbin on Saturday night coming February 20th. at 9.00p.m. sharp.
One of the many prizes on the night will be a hamper sponsored by Donie O’Meara Portumna. There will be many more spot prizes also up for grabs. 21st. Celebrations.

Congratulations and best wishes is extended to Orla Kennedy Rathcabbin on the occasion of her 21st. birthday. Orla celebrated the occasion over the week-end with family and friends in the County Arms Hotel. Well done Orla.

Best of luck to Elaine Hough (Ballyea) and her team mates in UL who contest the Ashbourne camogie shield semi-final against NUIG this Saturday coming the 20th. in Cork. UL had a hard fought two point victory over UCC two weeks ago to earn them this place in the semi. Last week-end Elaine helped the Tipperary Intermediate camogie team to a very good start to the league campaign when they beat Antrim 2.10 to 0.4 in a tough game that saw Elaine score a point to help Tipp into their next meeting with Kilkenny. Well done Elaine.

Christening.

Congratulations to baby Leah Alanna Delaney daughter of Robert Delaney and Mary Walsh Rathcabbin who was christened on Sunday last. The couple held a party for friends and family in ‘The Last Chance ‘afterwards.

St. Patrick’s Day.

Planning is in progress for the Lorrha St. Patrick’s Day Parade and to organise the event a meeting will be held in the Hall this Thursday night the 18th. at 8.00p.m. Anyone interested in helping is welcome to attend.

“Be The Change”.

An Gáirdín Organic and Ecology Centre Portumna are holding an “Be the Change Symposium” on Wednesday 24th. February from 7.30 to 10.00p.m. The symposium helps us to look at the most pressing issues at this time ecological justice and spiritual issues. Through the use of film clips and video the symposium presents the greatest thinkers and leaders of our time.
