Presentation.

Chairman of the Lorrha GAA club Seamus Deely made a presentation to Margaret Gleeson in appreciation for her contribution as assistant club treasurer for a long number of years. Margaret who has and continues to work tirelessly behind the scenes for the club stepped aside from this position at the clubs recent AGM.

Rathcabbin Players.

Many thanks to our loyal supporters who helped us to stage nine wonderful nights of “Rumors” which turned out to be highly successful. Thank you one and all.

Mass For Lent.

During Lent there will be evening Mass every Wednesday at 7.30p.m. in Lorrha Church. There will be no morning Mass on those days.

First Friday.

Friday March 5th. is the First Friday of the month. Mass will be celebrated in Lorrha at 9.30a.m. and in Rathcabbin at 7.30p.m.

Tourism Flyer.

Lorrha Development Association are compiling a Tourism Flyer to promote tourism in the parish of Lorrha and Dorrha. Anyone who wishes to promote their tourism business i.e. pub self catering leisure activities etc. please contact (087) 4125651 or (086) 8647166 before March 10th.

Wild West Barn Dance.

YEE HAW! Grab your partner by the hand and head on over to a Wild West Barn Dance this Saturday 6th. march at 9.00p.m. Teresa Dunne Walker in her final quest as Charity Lord Mayor Candidate for Lorrha extends a warm welcome to one and all to come along to the Ferry on Saturday night where there will be a heated 50ft. marquee decked out as a barn for the night complete with a live band and a mighty fine spread campside in the form of a BBQ for all you hungry cowboys and cowgals. Tickets at €20 are on sale in the Ferry Inn Ladies Day boutique Portumna on the door on the night and from members of the committee. As an added bonus each ticket sold will be entered into a fantastic draw for a luxury week-end for two to the five star Muckross Park Hotel Killarney where the lucky winner and their guest will be treated to two nights bed and breakfast with a dinner for two in their fine dining restaurant and complimentary use of their award winning Cloisters Spa a real treat for any cowboy or cowgal. The prize will be presented on the night by Portumna and Bill Cullen apprentice winner Brenda Moore. So dig out your denims and dust off your cowboy hat to come along for a night of great craic and entertainment and you wouldn’t know who might drop in….You all hear me now? YEE Haw! Lorrha Lord Mayor candidate David Power is holding a fundraising poker classic in Mahers The Friars Tavern Lorrha on Friday night March 12th. commencing at 9.00p.m. Proceeds to the renovation / development of the Friar’s Park in the village. Your support appreciated.

Reminder.

The North Tipperary Ploughing Association will hold their Annual Ploughing Match at Lissadonna Ballingarry Roscrea by kind permission on Sunday 7th March. Raffle Tickets are on sale for a draw which will take place in Noonan’s Ballingarry on Sunday night music on the night also. If you wish to participate in the ploughing or bring a display stand to the site please contact Lisa Smyth 086 3185286 for more information. Everyone is welcome for an enjoyable day for all the family.

Birthday Greetings.

Congratulations is extended to Sarah Brady Rathcabbin who celebrated her 21st. birthday. Sarah celebrated the occasion with family and friends in Kellys The Last Chance Rathcabbin last week-end. Well done Sarah.

Lorrha Lord Mayor candidate Teresa Walker Dunne wishes to extend thanks to all who supported the fundraising Texas Hold ‘Em card game on Sunday last in the Clonwyn Portumna. A special word of thanks to Brendan and Keith for all their hard work in organizing the event proceeds from which will go to the renovation and development of Friars Park in Lorrha Village.

Tipperary Intermediate camogie team recorded a good win when they overcame Kilkenny on Sunday last in the national League campaign. Congratulations to Elaine Hough who scored two points from her wing forward position.

Lorrha Lord Mayor candidate Joe Dolan is organising a Poker Classic to be held in Noonan’s Ballingarry on Friday March 5th. at 9.00p.m. Details from Joe and his committee. Further events coming from Joe is a Texas Hold ‘Em to be held in Lyon’s The Railway Bar in Banagher on Thursday night March 11th. at 9.00p.m. If you register before 9p.m. players will get 1000 free chips and Joe rounds off his fundraising campaign with an Monster Auction and Country market to be held in McCormacks of Abbeyville on Sunday March 14th.. Proceeds from all events to the renovation / development of Friars Park in the village. Your support appreciated.
