                                                    LORRHA HAS A NEW LORD MAYOR.         
                                                           

At a function in Lorrha Hall on Saturday night last March 20th. Joe Dolan was declared the winner of the Lorrha Lord Mayor Campaign and was presented with the Lord Mayor Chain by the Chairperson of Lorrha Development Association Rose Mannion.

All three candidates Theresa Dunne Walker David Power and Joe Dolan were made presentations of inscribed glassware to mark the occasion and in recognition of their hard work and dedication to raising a total of €28611.62.

Lorrha Development Association offer their thanks and appreciation to all three people and their hard working committee’s who willingly went out and raised this money at this very difficult economic time. Well done to all three and congratulation to the new Lord Mayor of Lorrha Joe Dolan.

Lorrha Development Association invites all who supported in whatever way the three Lord Mayor Candidates to a function in Lorrha Hall on Saturday night March 20th.

The winner will be the person who has raised the most money and will be presented with the “Chain of Office” on Saturday night.

Music by Denis Doyle with dancing from 9.30p.m. to 12.30a.m. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Munster Champs.

Ryan Hogan (Carrig) and George Harding (Lorrha) created history by winning the first ever Munster juvenile title for Gurteen badminton Club in UL Limerick recently. In what was going to be a great day for the Club Ryan teamed up with Alexandra Troy (Broadford BC)in mixed doubles to lift gold again and a second Munster title. In the singles George and Ryan battled through a field of 18 players and after some very close matches both emerged as finalists. After 5 hours of badminton George and Ryan faced each other in the final match. As neither player wanted to concede defeat this proved to be the best match of the competition with both players showing great skill and energy. Once again Ryan emerged victorious on a 21-19 score line and complete the treble with his 3rd title on the day. Well done to both boys.

The winner of the Lord Mayor of Lorrha fundraising competition will be officially announced and the respective winner will receive the chain of “office” at a function in St. Ruadhan’s Community hall in the village on Saturday night March 20th. The winner will be deemed to be the person who has raised the most money which in this instance is for the development of the Friar’s Park in the village. Live music with Denis Doyle from 9.30p.m. to 12.30p.m. and refreshments will be served on the night. The draw for the €2 lines that each candidate has on sale will also take place and the good news is admission is free of charge. Lorrha Development Association invites all and in particular everyone who gave of their time and financial support to the respective candidates during all of their fundraising efforts over the last number of months and this is the Development’s way of thanking all of you. So do come along and enjoy a great night out without any expense. Where else would you be treated to a night’s entertainment free of charge?

Lorrha National School pupils are busy rehearsing for their forthcoming concert which will take place on Friday night March 26th. in Lorrha Hall at 8.00p.m. Further details to follow.

Lorrha Community Alert.

The scheme of community support for older people whereby grants to improve the security of people in their homes has re-opened. The scheme is open to people over 65 years for purchase of socially monitored alarms smoke alarms external security lighting. Betty Houlihan wishes to express her thanks to all who helped with and supported the recent Church gate collection to send a young person to Lourdes. The amount collected was €718.

Congratulations is extended to the Tipperary U/16 squad who had a seven point victory over Cork in the first round of the championship on Saturday last and to Megan O’Meara who is on this panel. Commiserations to Tipp Intermediates and to Elaine Hough and Caoimhe Kennedy who were out with this squad. The side lost to Cork on Sunday last.

Rathcabbin St Patricks Day Parade and Fun Day.

Rathcabbin Development Association thanks everyone who took part volunteered and attended the parade on Sunday last. In the Parade prizes were awarded to the vikings of Redwood School 1st Peter Pan from Little Feet Preschool 2nd and Jack Flash the fire juggler 3rd. The dream team held on to their tug o war title. Raffle winners included Denis Duffy Noel Kinsella Robert Delaney Frances Bugler Oisin and Chennese Clancy Jack Ryan Brian Dolan and Patrick Hough. Many thanks to one and all.
