Lorrha N.S. Is Awarded Green Flag.

Scoil Lua Naofa Lorrha were presented with their first Green Flag at an awards ceremony held in Kilkenny recently. Pictured here receiving the flag are at front Maeve O’Meara Michaela Hogan Colin O’Meara Ms. Caroline O’Donoghue Ms. Deirdre Cox (Environmental Awareness Officer North Tipperary Co. Council).

Church News:

Friday coming June 4th. is the First Friday of the month and Mass will be celebrated in Lorrha at 9.30a.m. and in Rathcabbin at 8.00p.m. Confessions will be heard before Mass.
A pair of red rimmed spectacles were found recently in St. Ruadhan’s Church Lorrha. Contact Fr. Joe at (090) 9747009.

Recent Wedding.

The wedding took place on Friday April 16th. of Frank Mahon son of Michael and Aileen Lorrha and Teresa Canavan daughter of the late Batty and Mai Corofin Galway.
The bride was attended by her sister Mary Dearing while the groom’s brother John Paul was his best man.
Niece and nephew of the bride one and a half year old Harry Dearing and two and a half year old Aoife Canavan carried out the responsibility of page boy and flower girl respectively on the day. Celebrant was Fr. Willie Cummins (Galway) assisted by Fr. Joe Kennedy P.P. (Lorrha). Afterwards the newly weds joined with their families and friends for their reception which was held in the Westwood Hotel Galway before flying out to South Africa where they spent their honeymoon.
Congratulations and best wishes is extended to Frank and Teresa for a long and happy married life together. They will be taking up residence in Lorrha in the near future and we wish them well.

Angling Club Reminder.

Lorrha / Rathcabbin Angling club will host a kids fishing competition on Sunday June 6th. from 2.00 to 5.00p.m. at Killea House Ballinderry. Children are advised to bring their own life jackets. Entry fee is €10. For further information contact James Heenan on (087) 2031798.

New Arrival.

Congratulations and best wishes is extended to Darina and Pat Kelly Rathcabbin on the birth of their little boy Joshua on May 17th. No doubt he will get plenty of attention from his sisters Emma and Nicola and his brother Isaac. Well done and all the best in the future.

Toddler Groups.

An invitation to all parents of babies and toddlers to come to Rathcabbin Hall on Tuesday mornings from 10 to 12 noon each week and the group meet in Lorrha Hall on Thursday mornings at the same time. Grannies are welcome to come along also.

Annual Fun Day.

This years Annual Day which is organized by Lorrha Development Association will kick off at 1.30p.m. on Sunday June 13th. with a Wheel of Fortune. This is a new addition to all the usual shows and also appearing for the first time will be a Juggler to entertain all and a third new addition will be a “moo pooh” competition which is guaranteed to bring laughter a plenty. All the usual fun will take place such as Bonny Baby and Toddler competition Childrens Art Competition Childrens Fun Pooch competition which will have four classes Face painting duck race childrens races etc. Anyone who is willing to help out here please call (086) 8647166/ (087) 2601413/ (086) 8355405 and leave your name. Work Evening.

A work evening will take place this Thursday evening June 3rd. from 6.30p.m. for litter picking planting flowers painting etc. Your help here is required. All work evening dates are available on the parish web site www.lorrhadorrha.ie and anyone who is unable to make the appointed time can do so at a time that suits. Judging of the tidy towns has now commenced and we appeal to all householders in the village and on the approach roads to please keep outside your house litter free at all times as we don’t know when an adjudicator will visit.
