Lorrha GAA Jackpot remains at a record high of E20000 after the numbers drawn 14 20 23 and 30 failed to produced a winner.
GAA Chairman Seamus Deely and fellow officials Shane Brophy (P.R.O.) William Harding (Treasurer) and Lotto Co-Ordinator Donal Brady get ready to pull the numbers for the record jackpot of E20000 on Monday night last. This is the highest figure ever reached since the Lorrha club commenced this fundraising venture some 15 years ago. The lotto which is the clubs main source of fundraising can be played on line on www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play every week or it can also be purchased in any of the local business’ in the parish. Tickets are E2 each or three for E5.

First Friday.

This coming Friday August 6th. is the First Friday of the month. Mass will be celebrated in Lorrha at 9.30a.m. and in Rathcabbin at 8.00p.m. Confessions before Mass.

History Trip.

A history outing will take place to the battle of Aughrim centre and to Clonmacnois on Saturday August 14th. Bus will leave Lorrha at 9.00a.m. sharp and return at 5.30p.m. The cost will be €20 per head to cover bus and admission charges plus tea in Aughrim. A meeting will be held on return from the outing to form a committee for the history group. Birthday Greetings.

Congratulations is extended to Jimmy O’Brien Rathcabbin who celebrated his 70th. birthday. Jimmy celebrated the occasion last week-end with family and friends in Kelly’s of Rathcabbin. Well done Jimmy and may you celebrated many more in the years ahead.

Bog Tour.

Redwood Castle will hold a tapestry of the bog on Sunday August 15th. meeting at the Friars Tavern at 11.30a.m. The tour will be led by Mary McGeeney who will take the journey through Lorrha antiquities and Curragha bog. There will be a complimentary tour of Redwood Castle included. Cost will be adults €10 €2 children. For further information contact (087) 7479566.
